I have one of the scouts now, it shoots the 200 grain ttsx’s better than anything else I’ve tried. Debated on hunting one of these down, too…. Keep us updated on how it shoots
I wonder what kind of illness that was. He’s been competitive in cup lately and just won a truck race plus he has access to the best medical care in the world.
If I’m actually in a stand I love my model sevens. I think I have vx3’s on all except one of them, probably come in right over 7 lbs ready to go. In the case of those it’s more about the compact size than weight, I don’t have to go much more than about half a mile.
I have a T&K that I use if I’m carrying my 10x42’s. It’s considerably bulkier than the marsupial I had but it is built like a tank. The majority of the time whitetail hunting at home I’m carrying maven 8x30’s with a rick young harness (my favorite way to go).
I really like my springbok from spartan, I’ve been using it the last 2 seasons. It has regular twist leg locks so it’s definitely not as fast as the trigger stick but the quality is there. I keep mine set at the height for me to be sitting on the ground, I can adjust it from there if needed
What’s your intended purpose? I had one of the air weights for a long time, I carried it quite a bit but always with 38s. It wasn’t fun to shoot.
I voted for the s&w but I’d specifically like to check out one of the mountain versions. Can never go wrong with an sp101 either…
Just Colorado, with any luck I’ll be chasing antelope for the first time… I know the muzzleloader tag is an easier draw but I’d prefer the advantage of a rifle for this one (we shall see)
I’ve used a bunch of Talleys with no issues, one set of the Leupold backcountry’s and a set of the Hawkins lightweights. The Hawkins are expensive but the quality seems to be there
I have my great grandfather’s in the safe, almost identical except it’s a full choke. I haven’t found a tree tall enough to save a squirrel from that thing. Awesome guns, heck of a buy for somebody
Interested to see how it does for you, I went back and forth on one but waited too long. I do hope they thread the next batch, I love that they did them in the 9.3 and 35 whelen and not bead blasted stainless
All of my replacement triggers have been timneys, set at 3 lbs. I have several older 700’s and model seven’s (pre xmark triggers) that have had trigger jobs done, that all come in between 2.5-3.
I don’t like anything much below 2.5 on a hunting rifle, I want to be able to feel the pressure...
