Sorry, I should have clarified that better.
I do understand that it’s currently different and not funded by the same kind of tax, ssi is more of a general fund item. My thought was if everyone had a “retirement” ss and a separate ssi tax (that we’re paying for anyway) listed on their check...
I think long term, if it’s established that the government has to be involved in this process, then “retirement” needs to be separated from ss. There is definitely a difference in the security net and a retirement fund.
The security net needs a complete overhaul, no matter how wealthy the US...
The 60% is legitimate and no one argued that. You do have to address the decreasing attendance of churches if you’re suggesting that’s the best option going forward.
I’m not faith bashing in any way, we had our Easter dinner today. I’ve helped on and off with the books for a couple of years...
I don’t agree with a lot of Buzz’s beliefs but he is at least consistent. A lot of people calling for the “tax the rich” are not volunteering to pay more themselves.
Let’s get some spending under control before we send the government more money.
How would you feel about a portion of ss being invested in something like the “c” plan of a tsp? We could at least generate some growth vs the treasury bonds.

Your grandfather retiring with a pension plan is still a new concept as far as history goes, that was my point.
The TSP is not managed like an employer sponsored pension. The employee has investment options and are making the contributions. You can get similar returns to the c plan...
Retirement is a new concept, for all of human history until the last century people worked until they died or “retired” from work to work in the household. It’s not unusual outside of the west for those older people to still live with their families (wow, no government child care required)...
I’m not sure how to fix it other than to either absolutely not allow access to it until whatever “retirement age” is determined as or penalize withdrawals to the point nobody would touch it. 🤷🏻♂️
Someone above did mention at least protecting the employer match from the employee, which does...
No argument from me, that’s definitely true based on what you read on the internet but you’ll find just as many complaints with Leupold (or any other company that deals in the higher volume, lower priced optics) if you look.
The OP brags about how cheap he is so obviously wasn’t looking for a...
I had one of the 10/22 takedowns for a while, never had any issues and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper. I don’t recall if it was threaded but that can always be fixed
Not particularly, you could really think of it as an extension of Mother Nature. If I live most of my life as a married man, a chunk of that waiting on my wife, it won’t surprise me at all if a woman shows up to take me to whatever’s next after all that time.
