Gear for Disabled Hunters - Extracting and processing big game

I am 13 weeks post Posterior laminectomy and C2-C7 Fusion. I understand your frustration but I will do what I have to stay in the woods. I will be moving to a crossbow for this season. My compound is out of the question at this time. Be safe and have a positive attitude. I imagine you could...

Need suggestions on rifle post cervical fusion

So glad I asked this question on this site. Kinda surprised with all the .243 love, but I am gald to see it. It has always been my favorite cartridige for whitetail. Thanks again for all the wise advice.

    Are All Terrain tires needed?

I will clarify my question, Do you need an A/T tire or will something like a Michelin LTX suffice?

    Are All Terrain tires needed?

Where we hunt in South Carolina there is a lot of low soft muddy areas and an aggressive tread is required. I have only hunted in Kansas for turkeys and Wyoming for elk and a good E rated truck seemed ok for what I drove on. Is the advantage of an AT tire beefier sidewalls?

Need suggestions on rifle post cervical fusion

No, none of my rifles are new enough to be threaded and no break on the 7mm. I love the 243 and have killed lots of whitetails but they are smaller then Mule deer. Just want to be sure I have enough gun.

Need suggestions on rifle post cervical fusion

I have had my 3rd neck surgery and will need to lessen recoil going forward. I am mainly concerned with antelope and Mule deer. I own a .243 and a 7MM Rem Mag currently. Would I be better off shooting reduced recoil rounds through the 7mm Rem Mag or purchase a different caliber? I think the...

Was this a normal year for elk?

First year going on elk hunt. I didnt draw a tag but went along with a buddy who is a Wyoming resident and he had a general season area 36 tag. He has killed bulls in 5 of last 6 years, so he at least had experience. He passed early on a couple smaller raghorns, but we didnt see but one herd...

Hunting Gear and Boots Recommendations for North Carolina Hunting

I live in SC and dont step in woods without snake boots. Likely to be chilly, 40-50 in morning with it warming to 70's during day. Thermacell is a necessity as well. Good luck and enjoy.
