Well mostly because the surgery he would do is fusion. Said because of where I hurt my back options are limited. Really trying to keep me out of extreme. Really bothers me when I'm super active and moving around. Trying now for disability. Unfortunately it made it to where I'm struggling to...
I live in new mexico and have hunted all 3 of those species. Yeah a 44 mag will do just fine. If you are willing to buy something, there is lots of options. My personal suggestion is a .308 great all around caliber. Easy to find ammo anywhere you go. Worst thing is if your away from home and...
Never shot or owned a hoyt. My cousin had a brand new one last year. He gets new bows every season. He did tell me his 1st one had a small fracture on limbs. Guess dry fire testing explains how that happened. Only time I ever dry fired was 1st time using a release. However did get to see a guy...
That maybe the case who knows. I personally don't really care what weapon anyone uses. As long as it gets you outdoors and puts food on the table. It's great that we have multiple options nowadays to hunt with.
I find it funny as well, how archers bad mouth crossbows. Where I live it's only legal to use a crossbow for archery if you have you dr fill out a mobility impairment form. I know a few people who do use crossbows for archery. They are legal for muzzleloader and our rifle, which is any legal...
No surgery yet. Dr says I'm not a candidate for surgery. So just trying to get to where I can function again. Really just trying to get me out of pain.
I have a T/C encore pro hunter. Absolutely love it. Usually can find barrels for really cheap. Can also get barrels made for almost any caliber. I enjoy the single shot, most people aren't a fan. Single shot break barrels are a gun you either love or hate. For me it's really inexpensive to get a...
Yeah for pelt saving even the 204 left big holes in my bobcats and fox. That 17 hornet really shines with the smaller predator pelt hunters. If I don't care about pelts I definitely prefer my 22-250 over my 223. I own lots of different predator calibers they all have their own pros and cons...
Nice been thinking about going crossbow route. My back injury isn't really liking me shooting my compound much. I heard ten point makes solid crossbows.
Well been trying to nurse my back injury back. Really put a damper on everything. Also didn't keep up with this site much either. Anyway been having lots of pain, especially when walking or standing extended periods. I also have been considering a crossbow. My back currently doesn't like me...
Been out for awhile sorry to everyone. Having lots of issues with my back again. Last year wasn't a good hunting year for me. Was unable to do much if any hunting. Hoping I can get some help prior to this year's season. Not looking good as far as avoiding surgery, will likely get it done this...
Me and my family have owned howa rifles for years. My grandpa had owned several and my dad has a ton. Absolutely love your guys rifles. I own a Axiom in 308 and it's my favorite rifle I own.
Yeah 223 and 308 I own and aren't fur friendly at all on fox or bobcats. I do use a shotgun but when you have a shot past 60 yards the shotgun won't cut it. I did get a 17 hornet and it was roughly $500, so not double the cost of any other caliber. It's much cheaper to shoot also than the 223. I...
I think the ruger 10/22 is an excellent choice. I don't own my own, but my dad has several. They are very accurate, and lots of upgrades. Most people love them, accurate and reliable. I will actually be buying one as my next rifle. There are many others that are more expensive. However for me, I...
I haven't done any overnight camps yet. Just day hikes. Where I hunt really isn't far from my home. Takes 10 minutes or so to be on the trailhead, from my home. I usually hike around 10 miles a day sometimes less or more. Definitely a challenge, but hey who wants to stay home.
So this year has been really tough on me. I've been really down with the awesome monsoons here in SW NM. I plan on doing very little hiking for my hunts as possible. I've been interested in getting a mule bag to swap my metcalf out with, for shorter hunts. Anyone ever try one out? I love my...
