    Predator Optics!

I received a new VX3HD from him yesterday. My first purchase from him, and it won’t be my last! Very happy!

7mm-08 Obsolete for a Mountain Rifle Cartridge?

Another vote for the M70. I have an Extreme Weather in 7mm08 and it’s becoming one of my favorite rifles. Top it with a Leupold in Talleys and load up some 140 Accubonds and you’re ready to go for most of North America.

for the 1000th time - Caliber options?

160 Nosler Accubonds would be a great bullet to start with for that cartridge. I use that, 175 Partitions, and 140 TTSXs in my 7mm Rem Mag, which is very similar ballistically to the 280AI. Any one of those three bullets would be a great all-purpose bullet for that gun.

for the 1000th time - Caliber options?

That’s a good gun. I have a 30-06 Kimber Montana as well. Nice and handy rifle. I’d have voted for the 280AI for a reloader instead of the 30-06.

for the 1000th time - Caliber options?

I’d go with the .30-06 and be done with it. For 400 yards and in, it’ll do everything you need. Ammo is typically available and relatively low cost, which is important since you don’t reload. The 180 Accubond or 168 TTSX would be great choices for a do-everything type of load.

Best all around caliber for the Tikka T3x Lite in Montana

With a T3, I’d prefer a .270 over the .308 for what the original poster has described. Both will typically have relatively low cost and available ammo as well as less recoil than the .30-06. Since all Tikkas are long actions, I’d go with a long action round. I have a .270 T3 Lite SS that...

Tikka T3x Lite/ Superlite in 7mm Rem Mag?

I have a T3x Lite SS. I absolutely love the gun. I worked up loads using R22 that shoot 160 Accubonds and 175 Partitions into groups just a little over .6”. I’m very pleased with that. I don’t think recoil is bad at all, and certainly feels softer to shoot than my Ruger Hawkeye All Weather in...

    Do-it-all freezer filling rifle

First thing that came to mind when I read the original post was my .270 Tikka T3 Lite SS. I shoot 150 Partitions. Low recoil, ammo for .270s is cheap and available, and it’s perfectly capable of taking everything he mentioned. If you don’t handload, I’d look for 150 grain Federal Fusion ammo...

    30.06

Beautiful Model 70, and can’t go wrong with the .30-06!!!

    Thinking of rechambering my 7mag.

If you want it to be your “big gun”, I’d move to the .338 Win Mag. However, if the accuracy is still fine I’d keep running it as a 7RM until it needs a rebarrel. There’s not much short of dangerous game that a 175 Partition from a 7 Rem Mag can’t handle.

    Best Antelope/Mule Deer Caliber?

Another vote for the .270. I load mine with 150 Partitions as my “one load for everything”. This would also make a great elk load for use in addition to your 300 Win.

    Is there any thing

I’ve settled on the 175 Partition in my 7RM as my primary bullet. I’d be much more confident in that or an Accubond or one of the monos than I would be with an ELDX in Alaska.

    Best .308 parent case cartridge

    7mm-08 gets my vote.

    Best .30-06 parent case cartridge

I love them all, as the 06 case is my favorite. If I could choose just one, I’d take the .280 if I was allowed to handload. .30-06 if I couldn’t. I currently have the 25-06, 270, 280, and several 30-06s.

If you had to choose just one caliber???

.30 cal for me. .30-06 if we are talking cartridges. I have a T3 Lite SS in .30-06 that loves shooting 180 Accubonds. Not much I can’t do with that combo.
