No apology necessary. We can disagree and still be on the same side of the really important things ( like defending the North American model of wildlife conservation and hunting). We are both sharing our opinions and I respect yours.
Although I live in Texas, I’m a resident lifetime license holder and hunt Oklahoma every year. I’m in favor of the increases because we have seen a significant increase of out of state outfitters coming in and hammering areas by lining up clients week after week. Additionally, if all other...
I think GoHunt has been worth the cost from my perspective. I get a lot of benefit from the filtering and draw odds data and became aware of many opportunities because of their articles. Lots of folks will throw rocks at them for bringing additional non-residents to their state, but I think they...
A lot of good advice has been given already that I’ll echo. Don’t wait on your Wyoming points as the threshold will continue to creep up. There’s ample opportunity in Colorado for archery elk, so apply in the draw. There will be elk tags turned back in Idaho as other states move forward with...
For sausage and ground meats, you will be fine for a year or a little beyond. My ground meat stuffed bags are not air tight and there will e some freezer burn, but I've not seen any quality issues in the finished product.
As long as the demand significantly exceeds the availability and everyone continues to buy points every year, the point levels to draw will continue to creep. A good example of the demand slowing is i Wyoming deer for region G with all the winter kill, so that's slowing a bit.
I predict a...
They’re one of the few western game animals where you don’t see excessive pressure in tags. I personally think they’re cool and am happy for them to continue to be beneath the radar for the cool crowd 🤣
I saw that the elk tags sold out in about 3 hours. If you refreshed on the purchase button a random tag might fall out of somebody’s cart, but it was essentially over. I didn’t get an elk tag, but did snag a general deer tag. Not sure if they sold out since you can’t see them after you purchase...
So I've been considering a bipod for my antelope hunt and not sure what the conventional wisdom is on height. I realize it depends upon the grass or brush height, but what I'm asking is what do you guys/gals run for antelope hunting? Any preferences on brands and/or features?
I bought the inReach this year for my upcoming elk hunt and I've already used it while salmon fishing in Alaska as well as kayak fishing in Texas where I can't get a cell signal. Using it paired with a phone is the way to go for texting and for the map usage. Similar to others on the thread...
So I've set aside a week for pronghorn hunting in Wyoming in Unit 26 and the success rate is about 98%. I've never shot a speed goat, so I'm not looking for a record book animal and have tags for a buck and a doe. I'm driving up from Texas and picking up a buddy that is just along to help and...
