I live here so that makes the logistic easier for me on this hunt.
If Your going to kuoreanof you will be flying into Petersburg, and I haven’t been there since I was a kid.
I got this bad boy back in the beginning of June. I got him after I had a clean miss on a bigger bear, and blew a stock on a different one. Saw close to 30 total this season.
I had the same thing happen to my Outdoorsman tripod at the end of last season, could not find it to save my life. well about 2 mouths about ago my washing machine shit the bed, and had to be replaced. Much to my surprise when I pulled the old one out, there was my tripod. Only thing I could...
So throwing this out there, POW (Unit 2 Kosciusko Island has better bear, at least what i can remember as a kid) is a very attractive place to go hunt Black bear. Now not as attractive is Unit 1A, there bears dont get as big, but there are a lot of bear here. Generally speaking a decent number...
I did a full ladder test. several different bullets and weights along with about 3 or so different powders. Nothing would get me satisfaction, that’s why I posted this. I checked out the link on 24 hour campfire and found 2 of issues on the rifle so I’m gonna resolve those and do one.
So I’m working up a load for my Kimber 8400 mountain ascent chambered in 300 win mag. I have tried quite a few things with little success. I would like to find a decent load in the 165 range but it doesn’t have to be. Has anyone here had any success with this setup? And if they have are you...
My buddy almost got his with his bow, he got a shot on his. Got a bad shot and we lost the blood trail. When we found this one it looked wounded, so he took it with my rifle. Pretty hard to close the distance with a bow. If you pull it off in the alpine you got my respect.
Well... I live in southeast Alaska so that part of the logistics is the easy part. You can’t live here and NOT have a boat, so we took a boat to the base of the mountain. After that part it was really simple, walk up the mountain, sleep on top. Then the hunting began at roughly 345 am.
My buddy and I went for our annual early August alpine hunt a few weeks ago. Each got a nice blacktail, I hope you enjoy the photos half as much as we enjoyed the hunt.
I live here in Southern South East Alaska, and the guys that are telling you the HH or Grudgens rubber rain gear are not kidding at all. It can rain for weeks and 1 to 3 inches a day is not uncommon, and up to 7 inches in a day is not unheard of. May 10th as a general rule of thumb for bear, and...
the only reason I have a set of Ziess SF 10x42s, is i got recently had to work 36 hours strait and got a big fat check had enough OT to buy them out right. I figured screw it and pulled the trigger with the extra cash.
