Driving around here in Montana yesterday I saw some folks ice skating on a lake. I probably shouldn't mention which one it was but I don't even know the name of it so there's that.
All of those animals are in the area that I am hunting, plus I've also seen antelope and bighorn sheep nearby inhabiting the same terrain just about.
I've thought about using a fawn call, but I have to be honest that I'm a little hesitant in doing so considering the number of grizzlies people...
This seems to be the biggest reason why access is getting so hard. I think Kansas has the right idea on limiting it to one buck per person, per year as this prevents a small number of folks from locking up more land for more bucks. Still though, people act like having more than one hunter per...
By this point in the season I had pretty much wrote off that bear tag. Today though, while attempting to fill a deer B tag, I stumbled upon a ridge line that had piles like this scattered across a half mile swath. Perhaps the warm weather is keeping them out a little longer….
I think this is the biggest contributor to a lot of things that we gripe about in today's world. Cities are crowded, nobody can find an affordable house, more traffic, more people in what used to be rural areas, more hunters in the woods and fisherman on the lakes.
We can either learn to live...
Is the satellite texting good enough that you feel comfortable relying on it? I just got a phone with the capability to do sat texting and I feel that it doesn't perform all that great. It's slow to send a single sentence message, and it only seems to work in open spots without too much terrain...
Folks, despite my username representing the motherland, I have once again relocated to a different state. As a new resident of Montana, I will not be afforded the rights and privileges that a resident hunter has until I have been here for 6 months. This limits the tags that I can buy OTC to a...
Grouse must be running across the road everywhere. I went bear hunting this weekend. While making some top ramen for lunch at the pickup truck, I saw this guy run across the road. Therefore I grabbed my shotgun and got some poultry for dinner.
Recently I moved to Montana. Since I moved here after the elk tag deadline, and won't be a bonafide resident until after the season, I decided to explore some other opportunities this state offers. Therefore, today I shot my first grouse, along with 2 more. Judging by the size and habitat they...
I cannot help you with Idaho, but I relocated to Montana for work recently and have a fall bear tag in my pocket. Feel free to dm if you want as I'd be willing to share any info I come across.
If you don't have a kayak, just cast into the "guts" in between the sand bars. To identify those, stand up on your car, or on a sand dune, and look out. You should see some parallel lines where the waves constantly break. In between those areas, it should be deeper. Those deep guts act as fish...
Those used to be my old stomping grounds. I'm actually quite jealous. The surf should be pretty active this time of year, but also fishing tidal movement on the outflow of estuaries on an outgoing tide should also be fruitful.
