    This year in Missouri it starts on October 31 and ends November 1st, last year was November 2nd and 3rd. There may me a season in October also but the last several years it has been pretty close to the first weekend in November.

    To be honest, I don’t have a clue how to judge an elk on the hoof. Score is not as important to me as going after a mature bull. I agree that a mature bull is the goal, but not the entire focus of the hunt.

    I appreciate everyone’s opinion and experience. I’ve used 150gr 30-06 exclusively but haven’t hunted elk. I’ll shoot both and see which shoots better.
