    Bullet Selection

Yep point is you might be able to cut corners with experience but cutting corners it remains. For some it's just reckless. Talk about putting words in someone's mouth that would be words going into my mouth on this thread. All this started because I said that bullet cost can add up when you...

    Bullet Selection

To some extent I like shooting 22 because any practice is practice. And there's some fundamental aspects of shooting it can help with. But let's talk about (false) feedback which unrealistic training can easily give you. You actually get plenty of feedback from dry fire. You see whether you...

Couldn't the same be said about dry fire? But I'm all for .22 shooting and dry firing... In addition to practice with as close to your actual rig you can get. But to each his/her own.

    Magnetospeed

I did some initial load work up using my chronograph. Only my second time using one so had a lot of issues with false readings and what not. Also, the factory load I had did better by far than any of my reloads, better than I remember : 3 shot .37 MOA ES velocity 22. But the factory bullet...

    Bullet Selection

22 practice is good. But it won't be good practice for 2,3, or my max range of 350 yards. Nor will it be good for practicing shooting a gun with recoil. I'll admit that from my ranges it won't matter as much shooting the exact same bullet. But shooting a cheap bullet with a completely...

    Bullet Selection

If you prefer to practice with your hunting load, then the cost can add up. That's why. But yeah I mean you'd want to make sure the stuff you have is going to do the job.

    Availability of Federal TBT's

I have them set for the load workup. But when I experiment with the seating depths I will try them longer. Good info thanks.

    Availability of Federal TBT's

Well I found a bit of a disadvantage to the TBT. The grooves in the bullet make it impossible to seat close to the lands (well I suppose you could seat the groove outside the case neck, but...). I got these about .1 inch but probably could stretch it to .08-.09...maybe. The factory recommends...

    Cabelas Imeon

Cool there's another thread on here recently on these subjects. Down is lighter but less forgiving of mistakes like getting it damp. 15 or 20 sounds pretty similar...maybe base more on the specific bag you want.

    Bullet Selection

Swift sirroco, hornady interbond, and federal trophy bonded tip are more reasonably priced bonded polymer tip bullets though only the sirroco seems to be available at the moment. You ask me the nosler are all over priced based on features but a lot of people seem to like them. In the end it's...

No I use an rei down bag. But doesn't look like a bad deal I just texted it to my brother who is still using a synthetic bag. Not sure if the down us treated which you might consider. Let us know if you buy and use it.

3 season vs 4 season tent

I've noticed there's a lot if variation in three season tents Seems like most of them are three season. Some are a lot tougher than others. Four season seems to be a term for extremely heavy, bulky, and expensive. Very few of these seem to be on the market. Get to those rei sales right...

    Experience with power pro 2000?

I'll have to try it some time. Some of the velocity readings are great. One of my reasons against me specifically using is I switched from .300 to .308 this year and if I wanted higher velocities (recoil) I could have just stayed with what I had

    Experience with power pro 2000?

I have the alliant load book and they have rl16,rl23,and ar comp listed as consistent across temperature I think similar to what they say about varget or 4350. I completely believe people on whichever forum I googled were spouting off and exaggerated the issue. But according to alliant this...

    Experience with power pro 2000?

No But I also saw the load data and also got excited. I searched other forums and a lot good was said about it perhaps mixed questions about temp stability. I think it's technically designed for target isn't it? Regardless I decided to go with standard velocity loads.

    Backcountry sleeping bag

Ps: i made a very concerted and successful effort to keep my bag dry though. I practiced backpacking on 30-50 degree rainy days to learn how.

    Backcountry sleeping bag

I used a down bag in Alaska to include 6 days being flown out where it rained most days. It's all a compromise. As long as you have layers and outerwear such that you will survive even if your bag gets wet your good. Keep your bag waterproofed in your pack so if you fall in the water and get...
