    Glen Canyon

i haven’t been on the lake yet this year. As low as it was last year it was still a great week. Fishing was great as always. There were more beaches to camp on at that level, and with dangling rope closed, I had the mid-lake and San Juan arm to myself. If the dam wasn’t there I wouldn’t...

    Kids sports

Stick with the travel if baseball is his passion. Having the field size ramp up gradually is very helpful to development compared to little league where 6’ tall 12 year olds are still pitching from 46’ and running 60’ bases. And enjoy the ride, it goes fast. Mine is a Junior now so not many...

    Swaro SLC vs….

To my eyes the slc are only an incremental improvement over several $1000ish options. The EL to my eyes were night and day better. I refuse to look through the NL because I don’t want to know.

    Backyard Coyote(s)

I see them roaming the green belt behind my back yard pretty often. I have two gsp’s that shouldn’t be at much risk, and youngest kid is 16.

Recommendations for Future Arizona Mule Deer NR 11 points

You’ll never catch up to the bonus pass for the strip. I’m not sure what your wait would be to catch up to the points for a late Kaibab hunt. Early Kaibab you should be pretty close, depending on what this year’s tag cuts did to the odds. With a good guide you would probably see some good...

    Muzzleloader elk bullet review.

I got a buck this year on the kaibab with that bullet and 70gr at exactly 200. Complete pass through on a big bodied buck, wouldn’t hesitate to use it on an elk.

    AZ Scouting Trip

I got the early archery in 8. Plan to spend a lot of time up there through the summer. They’ll move a lot between my hunt and yours, but feel free to message me after my hunt and I’ll share.

Thanks for posting that. I have the ace in the hole hanging on my peg board. Used a scope in Az this year, but unless I beat my 20% odds here, I’ll need to set it up for Colorado.

    What's your go-to Hunting Pack?

I expected to buy a smaller bag like the sawtooth, but I’ve found the beartooths to compress up really well for day hunts. In the picture the main pouch has a water bladder and my kill kit. I don’t really need to get into it through the course of the day. Smaller pouch has lunch in it at the...

    Recap of arizona hunt

It’s cold by our standards. I’m going out tomorrow and probably Friday, but think I’ll stay lower in mule deer country and try not to freeze. Good luck!

I THINK I am going to take the leap.....

Kind of/maybe... A few years ago I threw a low boost code on the way to hunt Colorado. Mechanic when I got home determined passenger turbo. Drove it for a year in arizona and seemed fine until a return to Colorado and get the same code. Original mechanic is at a loss. New mechanic scratches...

    Arizona Muzzleloader Muley

Nice! Looks like you ended up down low. I had the tag as well. I was just looking for an ear wide 4x4. Found him Friday morning and blew it before I got close. Found him again Sunday before the worst of the storm and got it done.

    Muzzleloader bullet issue?

My cva shoots the 460’s really well with a felt wad and 70gr by volume of 209. Much past 80-85gr and the accuracy falls off.

    471 AZ bull

Sounds like she has a late rifle tag. Hopefully they find it come November.

    471 AZ bull

The bull was probably crossing onto the Rez when they said it disappeared last August. Coincidentally one of those guides has plead guilty over a bull on the wrong side of the Rez fence.

Ask Your Muzzleloader Questions Here - Thanks to CVA

Very nice! I picked up a used CVA off another forum for a Kaibab hunt. It’s been fun to dial in. What’s the story with the 400gr limit? I ignored the owners manual, at my own risk, to play with some 460gr no excuses. They shoot great with 70 grains by volume of 209. Recoil is pleasant and...

    AZ Couse Tactics

Kind of. They seem to get up and move a few times through the late morning. But yes, finding the bedded buck is the ticket. On the binocular question you asked the other guy... I personally have 12el’s. 15slc’s are ideal for coues, but I do other stuff too and find the 12’s to be the best...

    AZ Couse Tactics

Rn is spot on with his advice. Biggest challenge hunting alone is that you can’t take your eyes off the little buggers. They vanish into thin air as soon as you look away. With a partner one of you can stay on the glass while the other stalks or set up for a shot. Usually you have to help...
