Yes atv would be nice, plenty of rough trails but most can get through with a truck, if I had an ATV I would definitely bring it. I found way more animals north of the hwy. Medicine Bow elk and bear

Colorado Unit 161 (High Country)
I've bow hunted elk up high there a few times and saw some deer, not many. The bigger bucks I have seen were far lower than the wilderness.- Husker hunter

How often do you see elk?
My average over 3 elk hunts on public land would be seeing elk every 3-4 days. On my one private land hunt, saw elk daily.- Husker hunter

Shoot me down: bleats beat rattles
I haven't even had a buck come to a bleat. I have rattled in lots, grunted in some and have good success with a snort weeze. I'll admit I use the bleat the least, might have to try it more.- Husker hunter

Wyoming success!
My buddy has a cabela's alaknac and uses a wood stove all the time. A few pin holes in the roof after 15+yrs but nothing bad. Screen mesh at top of pipe helps a lot.- Husker hunter

Are there any OTC rifle mule deer states left?
I've taken 2 mulie bucks off public over the years. 2.5 yr old deer, nothing special. I still enjoy the challenge from time to time. It can be done but I sure would be disappointed if I drove a long ways and had the experience that I'm used to. Limited public, some is good habitat but it all...- Husker hunter
