    Lead Shot Ban

Absolutely! Solid lead is of no issue, though the myth of it is. The issue is DISSOLVED lead in water/food sources. This is a much more difficult issue to deal with. The shot issue is something tangible that has the added benefit of reducing hunting numbers. Win/win for the anti-crowd.

    Lead Shot Ban

Don't forget all of us with vintage shot guns that CAN NOT shoot steel. I have been effectively shut out of two seasons due to this fact. I'm not in a place to lay out a grand for a modern gun at the moment. I have a safe of fantastic vintage guns I can no longer hunt with. Yes there is...

    Crossing National Park land

Thank you! I do have to chuckle a bit at this "What to Do If You Feel Threatened: If you feel threatened by someone with a firearm, please contact the nearest park ranger or park office for help." The fact that some people feel threatened at just the sight of a firearm is amusing. Giving...

    Crossing National Park land

Is it permissible to transit NP land with a rifle (during season) to access National Forest land to hunt? This will be in CA.

As the deadline "draws" near any suggestions other than D17 for the Southern part of the state?

    Bear hunting ban proposed

Who here is surprised this came out of SF? These bill proposers should be fined if they have to retract a bill. That would maybe stop these idiotic proposals. Here's an idea. For every bill you want to be proposed, you need to take 10 OFF the books that are useless and wasteful.

    Turkey hunting area suggestions plz

I'm narrowing down my choices of where to go. Being city bound in the South means I'm driving. E-scouting the foothills of the El Dorado forest and over on the coast in the Santa Lucia range. I'm open to any suggestions and not looking for any super specific secret spots. Thanks for any...

    Bear hunting ban proposed

Chooses to spend my time?? WTF? I was born and have lived here for 57 years and for many reasons, I will stay. Running away will never fix the problem, and you can see in the states of OR, WA, CO, VA, NJ, and on and on and on, ideas don't respect state borders. The anti-gun/hunter mentality...

CA to allow 100% online hunter ed. No classroom attendance required.

I stopped dead in the middle of a class and pulled my son out due to this type of behavior. Some old F was incredibly condescending and belittling to him when they called him to the front of the class to have him demonstrate loading an auto shotgun. Now, I've shown him many times and at home...

    2021 Spring Turkey hunting

That's a great line up! Congrats to all. What part of TX? My buddy was out a few weeks ago and mentioned he just bought some property and he said there were deer and turkey on it. Wooo hoo! He's just NE out of Decatur.

CA spring turkey draw hunts. Suggestions?

Yes. Log in to your account and go to 2020 HUNTING(I know it's 2021, but CA) tab under PURCHASE LICENCES tab. Under the blue DRAWINGS banner you will see the SHARE hunts for "opening day" "balance of season" and "archery only". Under those, you will see all your choices. Pick 3 and if you win...

Need some truck advice - F-150 down...

"tune-up" LOL What is there to "tune-up" on a post OBD2 truck? Plugs. What a scam that term is. My '62 Single cab truck needs a tune up every 3k(valves, points, carb, etc.) NOTHING even remotely new needs a "tune-up". Just so non-mechanics here understand.

Need some truck advice - F-150 down...

I just don't get this. 89K WTF? I've got 235k on a '02 Dakota(yes not full size) quad cab with the 4.7. Orig. trans. I do frequent changes of all fluids and to be honest, I did have to do injector and coil pack replacements as well as an AC clutch replacement, but that is it really, oh and I...

CA spring turkey draw hunts. Suggestions?

Sadly I did not draw any of the ones I listed. Adding insult to injury I actually was drawn for a special hunt on a private ranch from one of the SHARE hunt draws. I had to give it up and help a family member with an unscheduled surgery. Like having to rip up a winning lotto ticket :-((...

Ask your onX Hunt questions here!

Latency seems off the chart lately. I do have an older computer, but other mapping systems are nowhere near as slow as OnX currently. Is there anything up??

    D13-D11

Don't let some here scare you off. Yes, we have all been new to an area. Like others have said, maybe don't go opening day and expect lots of hiking to get away from roads which can be tough in D13/11. Slow down and glass, glass, glass. They will not be in the open. Scour the edges of the...

    D13-D11

Mako, I like you are a long time bird hunter venturing into big game. I started 3 years ago. All the talk about early scouting is good for getting a general lay of the land, but spend your time a few days before you hunt really scouting the area. That will give you a truer sense of where...

    CA Draw Results Posted

I'm looking at a D16 buck tag too. It says archery and general. Has it always been like that? I'm in N. Orange county. My parents live in Fallbrook. I've scouted and E-scouted quite a bit but did not have the chance to go last year due to work obligations. Anyone want to set up a scouting trip?

CA to allow 100% online hunter ed. No classroom attendance required.

When I went with my son to his HS class(he was 13) there was no live fire class. Plenty of dummy load gun handling, but no live fire. I don't think that was a requirement in the state. Obviously he and I have talked his entire life about gun safety(as did my dad with me) and we have been...

jr, I was re-reading your post and need some clarification. Can you define OTC(OverTheCounter)? Do you mean once a unit opens up in July if it's not all been sold out in the draw?
