I use a spray bottle to mist straight vinegar inside and out, bag, then mist bags. I may use a wash cloth soaked in vinegar to clean up goop in the cavity or wounds after I trim it off. Vinegar is a great anti bacterial and keeps the flies away. Best meat care starts right after the kill, but...
Been shooting my Mathews MQ1 since ‘97 and she’s still get’n it done. I can’t bring myself to buy another. We’ve killed 8 bulls and 2 Muley bucks together and it just seems like I’d be cheating on her if I picked up another bow.
Just bought the snow camo version brand new for $160 on Camofire. Will you go $125? I'd like the same pack in brown camo like this if you come down. PM if interested.
So I'd also like to self video and like to test out new tactics to get as close as I can. I normally bow hunt deer and elk and love it up close and personal. Just looking to add to my bag of tricks.
Most of it is flat and grassy. There is some rolling country with scattered juniper as well. It is the same area that is in some of Randy's NM pronghorn videos. That's where I picked up the cow decoy idea.
I have an early October rifle hunt in a prime NM unit. I am considering buying and using a Montana decoy- cow. I've also seen video of a guy using a hand held camo screen. What are your experiences using these to sneak in to 200yard range? Besides wind direction are there other tips? Do's, Don'ts?
Legislation amending the GCNP authorization/designation is the only way to allow public hunting approaches. Park services Hands are tied and can't even consider options outside the current Law. Getting a congressman or senator to sponsor a bill and then Swaying enough votes at a national level...
Now you're talking. Green chile cheese burger.
There is some pretty good stalking terrain that is kinda broken in parts of that area. Seems like you may be able to find some ground that will help you put the sneak on. I've see some decent numbers around Claunch and ther is a dirt road between...
Try making a road trip from Mountianaire to Carrizzosso to San Antonio. That is mostly if not. All in unit 18. Hit the dirt roads as well. Lots of public land in there and I've seen a fair number of antelope.
Thanks Hank4elk. It sounds like a pretty healthy population to choose from. I'm looking forward to at least getting out there on county roads well before season to get a better lay of the land and hopefully introduce myself to the Hands. What's a representative size buck look like in terms of...
I'm new to the site and I'm hoping to engage and help where I can. I grew up in New Mexico and have lived in Oregon and Alaska only to come back to NM during my 30 years with the Forest Service. I'm drawn to this site because I appreciate and live Randy's message of the value of public lands...
