Yes public land in the form of county property. I'm part of an urban program where bowhunters help control the population. I was hunting much deeper than most.
Thanks all! Seems to be a general consensus here and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone also.
He used to be a main frame 9, and I guess still is, but now has a kicker on the right and split brow on the left for 11 points. Deductions will slaughter the net score but I couldn't have asked for a...
hmm.. seems to go against the grain of the A plus program or whatever they call it. I'm a novice more or less to NM, just thought an archery hunt would be interesting and more obtainable.
Hey Folks,
I got my biggest whitetail to date in Ohio this year, minutes from home.
I was more than a mile deep and it was 70+ degrees that morning, I quartered the deer and packed it out. Had buzzards on the carcass between trips to the truck already, flies were a shit show, needless to...
Thanks to the random draw pool in Wyoming everyone has a chance to draw a tag in any unit with zero points. (nearly every unit?)
If an antelope hunt is on your list next year or every year, always put in for the draw because you just may luck out and get your tag! if you don't, you still get...
Hey Folks,
I know that in NM during the rifle season, a non-resident can apply for a tag and be assigned a private ranch.
Is the same true for the archery season in New Mexico? are non-resident archers still assigned a private ranch to hunt?
Thanks all.
Unit 9 has a large piece of state land surrounded by walk in, there should be enough antelope in there for a good hunt I would guess. I can't imagine there isn't if fish and game pointed you to those units.
I prefer more southern units, research your odds in those with the special draw and...
I'm not a veteran per se, but I've hunted there. Good trophy opportunities exist with only 2 points if you're willing to navigate checkerboard land of public/private and many doe tags in restricted areas (type 7) are 100% draw or leftover in public areas. Do some research on draw odds using the...
Hey folks,
In September I got my first two antelope ever from Wyoming. Two does. Cooked a few steaks tonight and was blown away!! My new favorite game. I thought I would share the simple marinade and cooking instructions:
1. Cut a backstrap in to steaks. (I used 1 1/2 straps)
2. Place in a...
