I shot a cow elk with .375 couple years ago. She stood there a second and fell over backwards. .338 federal has done the job on a hog and a bear. .338 win mag is a real killer. Nothing it won’t kill with authority in North America- 35cal

I called a lot. I’d do cottontail for an hour, then move and do jackrabbit, then move and do fawn. 45 mins to an hour. If ravens showed up, I felt good, like I was convincing. It got discouraging after three days then BAM- 35cal

Thanks! Those 5 seconds are burned into my memory. It was unreal. Getting him made into a rug and having his meat processed. Packed the hide down in the dark and came back at 4am to get get the meat. Two trips for the meat. His stomach only had grass in it. He hadn’t started hitting baits it seems.- 35cal

Is it spot and stalk only? I’ve tried the objective harvest spot and stalk in that unit many times. I saw sign but no bear. Fall bear are tough in Utah. They tend to spend a lot of time in the scrub oaks eating acorn. Best of luck. Don’t rule out predator calling- 35cal

.338 Fed or .358 Win
check out speers data on the .338 fed. max load for 200gr hot cor is 2700fps with alliant power pro varmint and 2550 fps with 225 gr with alliant power pro 2000 I load 200gr hc for my 16 1/2" frontier and 210gr partitions. im losing velocity with the short barrel but im probably still...- 35cal
