Demo Leica Geovid HD-B 2200 for $1,500 - Too good to be true?

I had a pair of these binoculars. Mine were the same as this model (2200) but had the built in ballistics calculator. (HDB-R) They worked well until it got cold. I could range things easily out to about 800 or 900 yards. However, at temperatures below freezing, they pretty much stopped...

Best Bino under $1000 & Best under $2000

I own the Kowa 10.5 x 44 binos (Genesis prominar). I haven't seen them for just over $1000. Most places I've seen them are charging about $1500. They are in the same league as top tier binos I've owned from Swaro and Leica. The Kowas are my current go-to 10x binos. If you get them, you...

Recommendations of reloadeding equipment for newbie

What is your primary reason for reloading? Some folks reload just to save money on bulk ammo. Some folks reload because they want to wring the last possible bit of precision out of their gun. Given the calibers you are reloading, my guess is that you are mostly looking to save $$. The...

If you don't want to pay OnX prices, just get the Backcountry Navigator App for your android phone. It has layers that show land ownership and management, game units, etc. A fraction of the cost of OnX

Kimber Mountain Ascent Rifle Review (and customer experience difficulties)

I had a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 6.5 CM. Very light weight, but could not get it to shoot better than about 2 MOA with any consistency. Tried various factory rounds and handloads. I would not have trusted it for shots on game at over 200 yards or so. Eventually traded it away. Sad.

First Focal Plane vs Second Focal Plane

I prefer FFP. I like to be able to hold for wind (and occasionally for distance) and not have to worry about what power my scope is set at.

What Tires Should I Put on my Truck?

I've been using Kumho Road Venture MT tires for years now. They are terrific off-road, and not loud on the highway. They are absolutely beast on rocky uneven trails, cruise through mud and slush. Not too expensive...

Equipment: Upgrades, Replacements and New Additions??

This will be my first hunting season where I'm not changing anything. I think I finally have my gear list dialed. (Until I see something really cool I didn't even know about.)

Spotter Power / How Much is Too Much??

Most people that I know that own 85mm spotters end up carrying something else on their mountain hunts. Bigger spotter means a bigger tripod too, so the weight penalty multiplies. I bought one of the new 15-45x Kowa 554 spotters. It's light enough that I can use an ultralight tripod...

    Wyoming wild horses

The wild (feral) horse problem has an easy solution. Allow them to be harvested and sold to the Japanese and other folks who eat horse meat. Then use their hides for leather. Better than spending tax dollars maintaining thousands of feral horses.

Strange Super Strong Tape Putty Stuff: Braeon

I just saw this (and had to order some.) It's a tape-like material that you can mold and shape and is super strong. Looks pretty useful. Don't think I will take it backpacking, but will definitely keep a roll of it in my truck. Can't wait to play with it. (Looks like big boys' silly...

    New Binos

I've used various binos and spotters. For backpack hunting, I use 8x32 binos in combination with a lightweight spotting scope (Kowa 554.) To mount the spotting scope, I use an ultralight Granite Peak tripod. The 8x32 are good for glassing broad swathes of terrain, and can be handheld...
