Which tent??
If you're hunting in the fall some place where the bugs aren't too bad, I'd look pretty close at the Black Diamond Megalight, once you get the hang of pitching it you'll never go back to a traditional tent. It's also within the price range of some of these tents being mentioned.- NW307

Water - how do you carry it?
I carry a 1.5L nalgene and a 1.5L Kleen Kanteen. I've never had one leak and the stainless kleen Kanteen doubles as an emergency "kettle" if I need to heat water over a fire once the cap is removed. New poles - Leki or Black Diamond
BD all the way. A lot of their stuff is pretty cheap for "higher end" gear but they nailed it with their poles. Avoid the twist lock poles, they will always fail. The clamp system on the bd poles is repairable in the field and I've never seen one break. I guided mountaineering on cascade...- NW307

The padding is somewhat rudimentary I agree, but the theme of the pack is ultra light so there is a little inherent discomfort. New (to me anyway) Suspended tent in the air.
Very interesting, reminds me of a portaledge used for big wall climbing. I actually considered hauling my portaledge up into the woods so I could sleep up off the ground in the trees, and away from large 4 legged visitors. It seems pretty solid for how simple it is, i've never had issues with it twisting on me with up to an elk's quarter worth of weight. The "meat shelf" keeps the frame rails spread apart and stable. How do you choose?
Yeah, it's usually a multiple trip operation when I get an elk. Fortunately the lumbar pack fits in the dry bag if it needs to be hung for awhile during load hauls. The bears are thick enough where I hunt that everything needs to be able to go in a tree if you're not around.- NW307
