The only reasons I'm comparing the VX2 and VX5 is I own both. I already had the VX2 on a rifle when I received the VX5 (172368) in a trade. I was really just asking this to see how much better the VX5 is in low light than the VX2 I have now is. I've taken them outside at night but I live in...
Its funny you say that. I have two main bolt actions setups that I hunt with. My medium range setup is Tikka T3 30-06 topped with a Swarovski Z5 5-25x52 BT. I can hit steel targets with that setup reliably out to 600 yards. It has been my do all cartridge and used it to kill deer, elk...
Don't throw logic at me ... Lol.
I plan to do that but with three kids it's been challenging to time it perfectly right now. I just got the VX5 this week from a trade and have only had a couple opportunities to mess with it during the day while the kids were at school and daycare. I plan to...
In what ways? Is this the law of diminishing gains where you pay a lot more for a little improvement or is it drastically better optically? I haven't hunted with the VX5 yet but here at the house I don't see a huge difference looking through them.
Well I already own the VX2 and VX5 so not looking to buy another one. Just deciding if I should put the VX5 on to replace the VX2 or just sell the VX5.
Looking for some advice. I built a compact 308 last year for use when hunting in thick stuff and I dont need the longer range and weight of some of my other rifle packages. I got a Tikka T3x compact in 308 and had the barrel cut down to 16", threaded and topped it with a Leupold VX2 3-9x40...
Posting for a friend. Since Nikon no longer sells riflescopes, if you send one in for warranty repair and they don't still have parts to fix it they issue you a voucher for the price equivalent for their website. He sent in a M223 scope and they gave him a $450 voucher to use on their website...
I cant vouch for this outfitter personally as I ended up not hunting with them but in my original post I mentioned an outfitter in Craig CO offering guaranteed mule deer hunts. I talked to him on the phone for quite a bit that year and asked him how he was able to offer a guaranteed hunt like...
I used https://www.gohunt.com/ to narrow down where I wanted to hunt and then made posts/researched on here to get intel from people who are local or who have hunted in the area before.
If they can walk at all, you can still do a DIY out there and save yourself a lot of headaches. Most places are accessible by road there and there are nice hotels downtown. There really weren't many "remote" areas other than the actual walk in only area.
I've always been a clearance rack type camo shopper but looking to get into some better clothing that isn't quite as bulky. I'm predominantly a eastern whitetail hunter that tries to do one Western Hunt a year. I'm also predominantly an archery hunter so just looking for something less bulky...
Glad to hear that you had a good hunt. However yours is the first and only good review ive seen on him. What's the expression, a broken clock is right twice a day. I hunted Craig, CO also and will agree the deer are plentiful there. We went 3 for 3 on public land and had the same experience...
I have a buddy who is heading to Denver for a his daughters Volleyball tournament in late April and he's contemplating extending his trip to try a turkey hunt while there. He's hunted turkey a lot just not in Colorado. It looks like he's just missed the draw deadline for limited units. Does...
