    Jonesin' in PA.

He means InLine, there’s a new season. PA is the only state I know of that has a post Christmas ish Flintlock season. This year they added Bear/Doe with InLine during Archery a few weeks. Guessing he used that terminology to minimize confusion. I had a great 11 all around the house in PA. Had an...

Going to do it, DIY moose Brooks Range help needed

Legs healed up, I climbed a Glen into a Falls today and managed to climb it in 30 minutes or so. A bit out of breath but it was a lot of scree and shear faces. It is about .5 mile from where we are trying to buy a home. If I can hike it twice a week with 100 lbs in my Ilbe I should be good. I...

Best Back Country Hike in Hunt for Muleys?

Want to start applying and no idea where to begin. I am a eastern whitetail hunter. I am planning a drop hunt for moose and want to start looking for other hunts to experience. One I have always wanted is a remote back country type hunt for Muleys. I grew up in the Dax and Berkshires so don;t...

    One for the bucket list

That is a brute. I should draw another SC tag this year or the next worst case. I took an 11' with a harpoon and knife. It is a blast and way better than the junk you see on tv. Full body mount is awesome. Who is doing your work? I had Pernell's do a head and neck mount. A full body is not cheap...

    Jobs/Move to AK ?

We will most definitely be coming up again to look around before moving. We enjoyed the Ketchikan SE AK area a lot. I am also looking at some Slope jobs. Still working through it all and I have a good position now and an interview in SC coming up so nothing is certain yet.

    Jobs/Move to AK ?

I don't watch much of the tv shows and could only imagine what they would portray if they did one where I grew up. Heck one of the richest guys there uses a twine belt to hold up his holey sweatpants and has a pig pen right next to his gorgeous log cabin. He can watch the chickens and pigs from...

    Jobs/Move to AK ?

I am in RTP. I am used to the Berkshires/Adirondacks where it can get to -30 for a month of two and can snow in May. I spent 4 or 5 years near Lake Ontario where it could snow a foot a day for months. The closest store to our house growing up was 45 minutes and it was a gas station. If we got on...

    Jobs/Move to AK ?

The other option is we stay here or I take the SC position with the plan to diversify myself enough to be employable in AK. I would be more than happy on a fishing boat or cooking for a hunting lodge though:) not sure it would pay the bills but would be a great time. I really want to expose my...

    Jobs/Move to AK ?

I am currently a Manufacturing Ops Manager in a next gen Solar Pilot. My wife is a Plant Biologist who is thinking of getting into teaching. I have heard that AK is hurting for teachers right now. I have an opportunity in SC and am currently in a fairly decent position. My wife has said if I am...

    AK cruise

Also try the spruce tip ale in Skagway. It was quite good and unique. I received a nice knife from that store as a gift from someone on the cruise with us. I still prefer Ketchikan but that is me.

    Accident and DIY Moose hunt

Thanks and I apologize if these are basic uninformed questions. Just trying to start somewhere.

    Accident and DIY Moose hunt

so fly in sounds like the way to go then. I want remote and I was told the road system in AK is non existent for a lot of the remote areas. I can handle some with a winch and a set of lockers but this is supposed to be a hunting trip not a wheeling trip and I don't want to spend a week...

    AK cruise

We used Knudson cove but I forget the service. It was setup by the cruise. We didn't follow the rest of the boats and stayed in the cove for Salmon and almost limited on Silvers. We could have brought home a pile of pinks but it was late in the season and the fishing guide said they would be...

    Accident and DIY Moose hunt

Looks like roughly 75 hours in the car. Maybe shipping would be a better option compared to gas costs. Might be a nice trip though it looks like it goes through some pretty country.

    Accident and DIY Moose hunt

One thing that someone mentioned is driving to AK and then bringing atvs or maybe my first gen 4runner and doing a drive in hunt. Is it possible to get an OTC drive in tag and still be remote and not see any other hunters or is it high pressure/draw hunting if you drive in? What I want is an...

    Ketchikan AK fishing trip

We did the 1/2 day in Knudson cove and 4 of us almost limited on good Silvers. We ran out of fresh bait the bite was so good. Would have limited out but whenever I set a hook and tried to hand it off they would let the line go slack and slip the hook. My son had a blast. Shipped it back home and...

    Accident and DIY Moose hunt

So where to start. I've got to start somewhere I guess. I grew up in the Adirondacks and hunted colder climates and rapidly changing weather patterns but nothing like AK. I moved to NC 6 years ago. I have had the benefit of hunting WT and Gator with long seasons here. I always wanted to do a...
