    Montana 2024 regulation change

Well, that is interesting. I was considering cancelling my bird hunt this fall because of the drought conditions. Looks like I will be planning to hunt elsewhere this fall.

    Public Health Emergency

One angle some are watching is if NMSP gets pushed to enforce it. The problem is there is she still has the issue of finding a DA to prosecute. But that won’t avoid the possibly unpleasant LEO encounter.

    Public Health Emergency

I took another gander at the order this morning after seeing some discussions on social media. This is definitely causing some discussion because the perspective is the restriction on state property applies statewide and is all property. Hunting is not an exception. Full order...

Idaho Weiser River Elk Hunting Questions

I hunted there last year. Got near some elk and didn't have many SxS to contend with because I was deep in the trees. I could hear them running back and forth on the road a half mile away. I won't be back because it's a total zoo.

2023/2024 update !!! Norris Road Elk Hunt

I am not surprised. That area is always a disaster, especially if the elk have moved on to the flats. I've harvested a fair number of animals in that area and haven't been back in over a decade. It just isn't worth the headaches with crowds.

    2021- Who got skunked?

I got out more this year than the last few. Work was still chaotic though and cut into my plans. I got on some fresh track but still went home empty handed. I am making plans for 2022 to change things up.

    MT upland opener reports

Spent 3+ days driving around looking for birds and lots of walking. Finally found a handful on the last day. Definitely going to change plans next year.

    Drought for the west

They keep pushing the rain out and lower here in Boise. The interesting part in that post is the first wet system is 3-4 weeks early. I was wondering if the high temps in June/July would lead to an early fall. Fingers crossed.

    Boise Chukar

Lucky Peak and Arrowrock hold some chukar as well. I have been hitting the local WMA's myself for pheasants but am getting a bit tired of the crowds.

Was this a normal year for elk?

Seemed way busier than normal. I ran into crowds everywhere I went. I even took a day off this last week to go upland hunting and ran into a half dozen rigs for a weekday.

    Idaho A tag cow hunt

It wasn't Idaho, but I had good luck in Montana hunting near ag fields. Multiple times I have killed elk about 1 mile back, which appeared too far for many to walk.

    My Own Private Idaho

I'm seriously considering heading north to try and fill my tag with a whitetail. I've been out quite a bit this fall and between the crowds and weather, have only seen a handful of does. I always seem to find elk though.
