Ruffed Grouse Strutting This Time Of Year?

I believe you're right about the photoperiod being the same length as breeding season. I see lots of roosters strutting in the fall and there are always 1-5 hens around watching. I've learned to look for the hens before shooting the rooster because he won't pay any attention to me

    The Fishin’ Was Too Good

I had a similar experience years ago except I didn't find the extra fish for 2 weeks. It took 3 fishing trips never shutting off the live well to get rid of the smell

    Rainy Lake in early July?

For walleyes I'd fish mid lake reefs in 20-30 feet. Use your electronics to find the fish and use live bait rigs with minnows, leeches or crawlers to catch them.

    Northeast Minnesota Grouse Camp '24

I believe the hatch will be poor but there were good numbers of adult birds. If you hunt hard you can always find enough birds to have a good hunt

    2023/2024 Trapping Thread

I'm getting anxious to set some beaver traps. We had 10 inches of snow a couple of days ago so hoping we get some water from that. Our rivers and creeks are very low. I trap mainly 2 year old beaver that are traveling to find a new home in the spring, and it's better with higher water.

The Upper Red Lake Area Association is having a meeting Tuesday March 19 at 6:00pm. It's at the Waskish town hall the public is encouraged to attend, hopefully we can convince people this is a bad bill

They have not stopped access to the state owned portion of Upper Red Lake but the Red Lake band is trying to do that

That's true but our private lands have little value if we can't fish the lake.
