    I put a 3-9x42 vortex diamondback on my 17 hmr. Works well for the 200 yards i hit prairie dogs at. The 9x is nice for hitting jac rabbits at 300 yards, and the 3x is good foe coyotes at 20 yards.

    They are federally protected as "an iconic of the historic west" non native, invasive. Its ok for the feds to castrate them, kill them off, sell them for farms, but its illegal for you or me to shoot one to eat the meat. Tell me how that makes any sense.

    Your priveleaged getting 5 weeks. We get 2 most places with a general tag. The draw tags are slightly better but good luck ever seeing one of those. I do see dozens of mule deer everytime im out elk hunting though.

    Losing elk unless you shoot through shoulders, and getting no bone fragmentation when shooting through shoulders are two key indicators of bullets failing to expand.

    It really helps ro have a cartridge with limited wind drift when your in wyoming and 25 mph wind can be come still or revers 180 degrees multiple times per minute.
