    New Zealand in May

I may get a guide for stag on my next trip. I would be a big time savings working with someone who knows where the animals are at and smart to have an extra hand too. Thank you for your helpful info before I left Kiwi. It was a big help.

The firearm permit was fairly easy to get. I didn't need to know a New Zealand resident. Just apply several months before your trip (I think they ask for 5 months but 3 would probably be okay). I had to re-check my gun case at every airport but that may have been because we had a lot of...

We ate a bunch there and I dried a bunch and brought it in my carryon. The flavor was very mild. I'd like to figure out how to bring back frozen meat the next time. I'm kicking myself for not asking the inspector for information about that in San Fran.

I believe that most of the paperwork was posted by folks helping me out on this thread. I can post some links if you can't find them.

    New Zealand in May

Had a great time in New Zealand and definably planning on going back. So, to answer the question that I started this post with I'll try to break down what I did to get the cape and horns back home. I skinned the head out the day after packing him home. I cut the skull plate off a boiled it...

That's for those tips. I'd love to see Hobbiton too (I'm sure my family would also) but we're probably not getting out of the airport when we land in Auckland.

On nice. Did you try the Ben Ohau and the Quaiburn units by any chance. Ben Ohou is super close to Twizel so I'm hoping for some good things there.

Copy that. I can dry them as much as possible then freeze them. The house we're renting has an outbuilding that should be perfect for getting that done.

Got it. Did you just wrap up the antlers and skull up with packing material? Did the airline need it done any specific way?

I can't say no to help. We'll be staying in Twizel so I'm planning on hunting within an hour of there. I'm trying to get the family excited about fishing in the canal too.

That's all awesome information. Thank you. Do I get the NZ paperwork for the animals from the DOC? They have an office in the town we're staying in.

    New Zealand in May

Okay, my dreams have finally come true. I’m heading to New Zealand for a DIY hunt in May. I’m taking the family but I’ll be the only one hunting. Just a boy and his gun. I’m hoping to get some advice about bringing back capes, horn and antlers on the airlines. I’ve read a lot and have some...

Awesome news on your wife's tag. My wife climbed Mt. St. Helens here is Washington about 2 weeks after giving birth to our first. Yep, she pumped all the way. I'm sure that your wife will do great on her hunt. Can't wait to follow along on your story. I also drew a sheep tag and I'm excited...
