    Northern Minnesota deer camp was good to me this year. Got this nine pointer (my biggest whitetail) on Sunday morning with my .270 Win. The 130 Hornady CX destroyed the heart. He ran about 50 yards and died right in the trail. Easiest drag I’ve ever had!

    Finally found a Montana buck. There were three in the group he was in, the other two had shed their sheaths and he had already shed one. I don’t mind, I’m happy to have my favorite meat in the cooler. Gave him the Howa Handshake with the @Big Fin Howa in 6.5 Creedmoor.

    I am. Missoula area. It’s the weirdest thing, I saw plenty of blues during spring bear and this summer when on training hikes with my dog. I’ve hit most of those areas this season, and no birds.

    I’ve got no experience with the .264 Win Mag, but I’ll pile onto the “Buy it” crowd. The proper number of hunting rifles is always n+1, especially when they’re chambered in cool cartridges.

    When I was 12 my dad told me he was going to let me choose the hunting rifle I wanted, but it had to be a bolt action .270. I chose a Ruger M77 Mark ii and it’s still one of my favorite rifles.
