They are up higher this time of year but what everyone else said is pretty spot on. Here are some pics of habitat to look for.
This is not an exhaustive list of photos but elevation is about 9.8 and is moderate steep meadows and thick forest with plenty of vaccinium understory. Nearby is a...
This can be done with ATAK for android and ITAK for iphones. There is also WinTAK for windows. We use a more secure, state funded version of it at work, but the 3 I mentioned are available for civilian use. There is a high likelihood that S&R and County LE uses the state version but...
Season finally took an excellent turn. Was able to bag out and have some field to table dinner with the family. Wild grouse with a raspberry walnut vinaigrette and berry salad.
Will probably head out thursday morning to a place nearby I've seen birds but haven't shot any. Hopefully get a couple...
Brother and I both bagged. I took the 22lr and took them if they didn't flush or if they tree'd. He shot them on the wing. He used my 22 for one of his birds.
Good post and timely. I've been looking through threads seeing what people carry in their first aid kits and have noticed not one person mentioned carrying stop-the-bleed equipment. We are one of the few sports where we carry firearms and bows into the wilderness and its shocking no one os...
Hey gang, the date is Sept. 4th, I've only gone out once so far in a new area and hunted around 9.8k feet. Area was along the front range and it is a new spot for me so I haven't learned where the coveys like to be. Pretty sure I was too low for that specific spot and I didn't get into any...
After a week of scouting I finally started finding bulls. One in particular isn't too difficult to get to. There are about 7-9 cows, 3-4 calfs, and 2 bulls in this "herd" I've been hunting. 1 bull is confirmed legal, 4x3, and the other I couldn't tell.
Opening day of muzzleloader (Saturday) I...
I made a fence out of rope and they seem to be respecting it. They just go around the site when they pass by. They still like to walk up at night see what you're cooking tho but just shoe them off gently.
September 14th to 22nd so in a couple days. I attribute my success on my deer hunt a couple years ago to scouting the entire week prior to opening day so I'm doing the same thing this hunt.
Well I've been in my unit the last week scouting. My brother has a muzzy buck tag and I have a muzzy bull tag. I've found a ton of deer and located a few bucks so that's good to go. I've also found a few cow elk, took me a few days but the last couple days I've seen about 9 cow elk. My question...
Well since I got a lot more responses than I thought, the update is the fence is built, and I'm currently getting ready to shovel some shit away from the fire ring. Once that's done I'm gonna put up a "no cows allowed" sign and then go glass a nearby spot I got marked on the map.
I've got 300 feet of rope, I'm about to build a fence. Not electric, but hoping they see/feel it and at least stay out of the site. If they go around I'm cool with it. They were only in camp about 20 minutes before they moved on. Spent the last few hours since checking out other roads and...
Got and set up camp about a week early for scouting, hunting muzzy season here in Colorado. Woke up this morning, was gonna be a chill day just driving some roads, getting to know the unit, figuring out trailheads and access points to spots I e-scouted, but there was a bunch of cows in camp...
