I've duck hunted on the Clark Fork through there and once we had to make our way back through the riverbottom woods, can't remember why, our bad. But holy crap the elk sign in those woods was unreal. Of course the landowner was waiting for us when we emerged and he yelled at us in a most...
I'm not sure I'd be too keen on helping a stranger who went and shot an animal without having any idea what to do with it after killing it. That's pretty disrespectful to the animal. It's not like this was pre-internet and there weren't any online resources. I might help, but it would definitely...
Tragic. My buddy shot his first and only mature bull elk and the antlers got ripped off from his back porch in Bozeman. Hope the moose antlers can be found. Too much money in the antler trade these days.
I agree, but in the USA it's all about FREEDUMB! Haha
But seriously, who's going to decide if you get institutionalized, or I get institutionalized? That's the crux. Easier (and cheaper) to just let the crazies live on the streets and do their drugs. Step around them and over them and smile and...
Seattle is an awesome city. My daughter lives on Capitol Hill and I love visiting. All the "Seattle is Dying" hype is way overdone IMO. I even bought into it before I started going there regularly.
Also, people need to own up to the fact that in this country we do not institutionalize our...
I guess I put too much pressure on myself which prevents me from enjoying hunting as much as I should. I've shot five elk and a couple dozen deer and I still feel like the worst hunter I know. It's a blow to my ego, and I despise having feelings of jealousy. There is literally nothing else in my...
My wife and I ended up staying at Lake Lodge last summer when a thunderstorm delayed our kayak launch on Yellowstone lake. Never been in the place before even though I've been to Yellowstone dozens of times. So anyway we're hanging out in the awesome lobby area and suddenly this string quartet...
I feel like I've seen/heard/smelled and been around more elk this season than ever before. But I haven't had a shot. Weird.
But to answer the question, I've had seasons where I didn't see any elk at all, and usually I try to hunt at least ten days.
Fall of 1983. Four college freshmen traveling from Missoula to Bozeman for Cat-Griz. Open case of beer and a pile of cans on the floor of the backseat. Cop pulls us over for speeding. Looks at the cans. Writes the driver a ticket for $5. Says have fun boys.
Go Griz!
Funny how they say hunter recruitment is declining, yet we all see a lot more hunters in the field.
Same thing with skiing. Supposedly skier numbers are declining, yet the ski resorts and the popular backcountry areas seem more crowded than ever.
What gives?
