Anybody else have good words for the 7x57 ?

I've been playing with a 6mm Remington, and appreciating the old Mauser lineage back to 7x57. Its a pretty cool, historical cartridge, no reason not to go with one.

    Water heater help!!

How old is the unit? I just dealt with a similar problem with mine. It would occasionally lose the pilot, but always easily relight and stay lit. Then, the pilot started going out, allowing me to relight, staying lit, but wouldn’t run, and leave a trouble code. The unit was about 14 years...

    Trying new rifles this season

Nosler builds a great rifle, their only weakness is probably a lack of an entry-level option. I'm positive you'll end up with a great company, any of them would be lucky to have you on board.

Weatherby Ammo vs Hendershots or similar in 6.5 RPM

How has the WBY ammo usually shot at 435? That SD and ES are really poor, so I fully understand wanting to find something else.

    Happy Wheel Gun Wednesday

I’ve never really been much of a revolver guy, but I do really regret selling the Alaskan in .454 I had. The Smiths both came to me from my mom’s brothers after they passed, and the guns really fit their personalities too. The more serious of the two had a huge collection of guns, and held...

10 days anywhere in the world...

I'd probably go back to Peru, see a couple of the same areas and add a few more. We only had a couple hours in Paracas, so this time I'd want to go out to the islands and see all the wildlife (seals, penguins, birds, etc). Adding some fishing to that part of the trip would be awesome. Plus...

    Tikka deal

I’ve already got a wsm, and plenty of magnums really. I have a ton of .277 Fury brass that I’ve already formed to 260ai and I could do it for 243ai if I needed more headroom.

    Tikka deal

That is great, last I knew there were still some slower ones out there. I have a great 6 Manbun, but after Paul made my 260 and AI, I really think an 243ai would be ideal.

    Hunt lead free SD

I just see going lead free as an extension of conservation. Game animals of all sizes die just as well with appropriate for cartridge monos as they do with cup and core, so there is no reason to leave a toxic mess on the landscape. I shoot coyotes all the time, but I don't want to see them...

    Suppressor alignment?

Two times have I had misalignment. One was poor factory muzzle threading, and one ended up being a can that was poorly aligned. But I have 30 cans and I've been in the game for a long time.

    Suppressor alignment?

Most, if not all of the people saying you can just eyeball it, or if the barrel is threaded well it is fine, will be surprised how many are off if you actually check them. I have alignment rods in 22, 243, 264, 30, and 338, and every new can/gun combo gets checked.

    5.7x28

I was deep into 5.7x28 years ago, its a really great little cartridge. I started out with one of the 57 AR uppers that uses the 50 round FN PS90 mags. I got the FN handgun and its a great shooting gun, very different than most of the other stuff out there. FN said they were going to release a...

    Doesn't look good

That guy was amazing, top tier human for sure. Watching his movie, I was thinking the whole time that no one can climb that many of the 8,000ers and cheat fate for as long as he had already. He earned a place in history for sure.

    7mm-08 load for Weatherby

Its worth cleaning the barrel before you retest those Barnes, they might shoot even better, I have really seen them improve when not mixing cup and core and monolithic projectiles.

    7mm-08 load for Weatherby

So just to recap, the bullet killed all those animals. IMO 7-08 is a 350 and in cartridge regardless, but I prefer more headroom than most.

    7mm-08 load for Weatherby

    Oh I know, the 150et in a 308 is so damn close to a 140et in a 7ht its nearly a wash.

    7mm-08 load for Weatherby

You lost all of those animals to inadequate expansion?

What game did you shoot the ETip into?

    7mm-08 load for Weatherby

Thats different from my experience, I load for a friend who has dropped a cow elk, blacktail, and a large feral hog with a Howa Superlight in 308 and the 150et. I'd think the velocity in 7ht with a 140 would be great for reasonable hunting distances. I do know that the ETip has been easy to...
