    Well, you obviously have your OPINION and I have mine. Looks like we will have to agree to disagree on this. But you also brought up the prairie chicken refuge. There are many other factors leading to their decline, mainly predators eating the eggs.

    My point, there were not the big numbers of birds there before the rice. BTW, the rice came in pre-WW2 with the big expansion during the war. POW labor was used to help expand the canal system.

    I’ve lived in the area for 66 years. Maybe you need to take a look at the bigger picture. Now for you saying that other factors are in play, I don’t deny that, but this whole discussion has been how bad crop farming is for waterfowl, and that is not the case. Crop farm helps feed the birds.

    I don’t have the time to explain all the dynamics of water movement in soil. But basically think of it as having a drain in the side of a barrel. You start putting water in the barrel, water won’t run out until it gets to the hole in the side. You might get a splash out before that by at ripples...

    You need to study soil science before you go and make statements that are incorrect. The tile doesn’t run water until the soil profile is saturated anbove the level of the tile and even then it only lowers the water level in the very top of the soil.

    Not in Texas, must be considered a navigable stream. However, even if it dry, but considered navigable, you can walk down it. I don’t think it’s legal to hunt a riverbed, and I know for certain you can’t shoot across or have your bullet leave the ground you have permission to hunt.

    The only correct answer would need to know the location and ownership. Some here in Texas are open to hunting, some are private property (even though they cross public roads) and some are irrigation district owned but still no access allowed.
