I guess I've hit that age. You gotta pace yourself.

I get the burpees if I drink my beer too fast.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

We will be going up there over the Christmas holidays. Not just to visit, but this will be a serious scouting for relocation. Thanks to you folks, we have some places to focus on. The valley that Salmon Chaser and Irrelevant have been describing really checks a lot of boxes. We will likely start...

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

After your post, I watched a few YouTube videos about the Willamette Valley. It does look beautiful.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

When my son and his wife first moved out to Oregon, they started in Tilamook. We visited them over Thanksgiving. It was nice. The weather was exactly as you would expect for that time of year, but we still enjoyed hiking out in the cool, misty rainforests around there.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

I haven't really decided. I just know that in any big city, my wife and I would be miserable. I live about 60 miles from Houston and it's still too damn close.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

This is the conclusion that I'm coming to more and more.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

Don't be concerned about hijacking this thread. This is all stuff from folks like you that actually live there. I want to hear all sides and you posted your honest viewpoint. Any folks that disagree, I'd like to hear from them too. I think this has been an excellent discussion so far.

    2026 controlled hunts

I honestly think that draw odds would be impossible to accurately calculate. With the cubed points system especially, you just don't know how many actual entries would be in a particular drawing. I believe that the best one can do is divide the number of open spots to the number of last year's...

    INEOS Grenadier?

I actually work for Ineos in one of their chemical plants. They have swapped out the leased trucks here in the plant for 2025 Grenadiers so that's what we are driving around. Not bad but they don't drive like any vehicle I've ever driven. It's gonna take some getting used to.

    Retiring in the Pacific Northwest

Well, it's almost time to hang up my work boots. I'm looking to retire in about a year and a half. I've lived on the Texas gulf coast for most of my life, but the heat, mosquitos, and hurricanes are now wearing on me. My son and his wife live near Portland and my wife and I would like to be...

Yea, that one is like winning the Lotto. Good luck on the upcoming draws. Looks like you and I have somewhat of a chance on the pronghorn, although I wouldn't be packing up the truck quite yet.

Wolf Activist Put $10K BOUNTY on WY Wolf Hunters

I'm glad that no one actually killed you too! That said, I have a picture in my mind of the type of hootleheads that would make online threats like that. Probably not that much of a threat.

    Deer subspecies in your area

That is an awesome area. My wife and I drove Pinto Canyon road from Candelaria to Marfa a few years ago. Blew us away how beautiful it was. TPWD is opening a new WMA in that area very soon.

    Deer subspecies in your area

I've seen them hanging around the campgrounds and parking lots in the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend NP.

    Deer subspecies in your area

I thought Mustangs Rule thread on Burro deer was interesting. I like to nerd out on stuff like that. Does anyone else have an interesting, distinct subspecies of deer in your area? If you do, maybe post a pic and a little writeup about why it's distinct. I'll go first. On the Louisiana and...

Boat motor repair kit, wanting input

Also, don't forget an emergency stash of whiskey. That's so you can get s---faced while you wait for help on the bank if your boat's beyond repair. Doubles as snake bite medicine.
