    Tactical pants for hunting

I have worn First Tactical with good results. I wear them for work as well and they hold up to pretty good abuse. Come in a variety of colors, I prefer the forest green, gray and brown. Run true to size.

    Wyoming Draw Results 2026

Unsuccessful for me, but my dad drew an antelope tag! Adding onto our already scheduled Montana hunt!

    STA BALL 6.5

I like 6.5 StaBall for my 6.5 PRC. I developed a round that shoots .5 MOA from my Bergara HMR. No major pressure issues, building a load did yield a heavy bolt when I got to almost 100% case fill. Settled on 54.9 grains pushing a 143 grain eldx.

    First lite gear

I second the Corrugate foundry pants. I bought a pair, put a CO deer hunt, 2 NY white tail seasons and 2 ice fishing seasons. Great pants, so i had to order more. Static waist band means going up a size, but that's not problem. Standard inseam is 32", but you can get a 35". I also have a...

.308 win bullet selection for new reloader

Start low and see what your specific rifle likes. I found varget is a great all around powder and will get you where you want to go, but some load build outs will be needed. Also, depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For putting holes in paper, a low powder charge may be all you...

    Gear Upgrades

I like my AGC harness. It is a little on the bulky side, but super comfortable to wear, including when I've got my pack on. I added a holster for the .45 underneath and the attachment points are really nice, and versatile. I keep my range finder in the front pocket, with my inreach clipped to...

    Hard luck tag drawing stories

I applied in a deer unit in Colorado as a NR, and 16 of 17 NR drew, guess who the 1 person was who didn't draw....

    Turkeys

I filled my turkey tag this morning, after spotting a nice tom from my living room window. It was raining, and he had 3 hens with him, so I watched him for 20 minutes, trying to convince myself not to try and harvest him. Well, rain stopped, and the sun came out, just like a sign from above...

    Montana draw 2026

Got a general tag this year. Most folks wouldn't be super thrilled to hunt a general tag, but i ain't most folks!!! My dad drew one as well.

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

I'd invite you all to NY to spend about $300 bucks on a NR deer tag, and a bear tag comes along with it. You can shoot a mediocre forky on the over crowded state lands and see how inefficient government agencies don't work! Seriously though, I would agree that MT does need to cut NR license...

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

Based on this and most of the other posts on this site, it seems that residents of Montana would rather there not be NR at all.... Good luck funding FWP without our huge donations every year. And yes, NR should consider other options, most states have cheaper NR tags and opportunities are...

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

That's not the story I have gotten from a couple buddies who are guides, but then again, that's only a couple, and they are from the same outfit. As a NR who has hunted with an outfitter, and DIY, I am supportive of LE draws. The population can't support the number of tags they are handing...

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

Having LE or regional tags isn't shitting on outfitters. It's how it should be. I'm not advocating for unlimited tags, and any outfitter booking as many clients as they possibly can will hunt out their ground quick. I said earlier that when I went, the outfitter cut 30 hunters per year...

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

Have you hunted with an outfitter in Montana? When I purchase an outfitter endorsed point, my tag is only valid when im physically hunting with that outfitter. Not valid on public or private without that outfitter. My tag will be punched on land that is probably private, and probably would...

Montana Regional Caps and Limited Entry for Mule Deer.

I've hunted with Outfitters twice in Montana. Both times I spent large quantities of cash in the local economies. License and tag money to the state, fees to the outfitter, money spent with the meat cutter, restaurants, gas stations... Going after someone spending thousands of dollars in the...
