What pay method are you guys using for buying/selling on the forum?

There is no payment system that protects both parties for gun-related sales. Even riflescopes are iffy. PayPal does not allow firearm sales, so if a seller allows the buyer to use goods and services for a gun-related item, PayPal has been known to refund the buyer and ban the seller's account...

    Cow elk rifle

Because they haven't tried it. Full stop. And when looking at it side by side with a magnum cartridge it just doesn't feel like it has the wallop factor. All the "margin" talk fails to account for the fact that accuracy nosedives when shooting from field positions, and bigger cartridges recoil...

    Use a strong password!

The problem there is that if a site's database leaks, it's easy for a hacker to run a script and find all people with the site in their password, then write another quick script to log into other important sites like bank accounts, 401k's, etc. using that password structure. We're talking 16...

RIP Garmin Inreach … iPhones to allow satellite messages in ios18

If you have T-mobile, the Starlink messaging is pretty seamless now. Works just like normal with pics, group texting, etc. Even weather, Google maps and other apps get limited data. This is what will kill Garmin's InReach. In a pinch, the GPS Iridium SOS texting does work if you need it and...

    Cow elk rifle

There are those that have tried it with great success, and those that never will but proclaim evidence based on "gut feelings". I'm taking my 7PRC on my OIL elk tag this year, but only because it's literally what I built the rifle for. Honestly, I'd feel more confident with my 22 Creed. The...

    Cow elk rifle

You are way behind. There's a new 88 TMK out for the 22's. Proofed my DOPE out to 785yds yesterday in my 22 Creed. 7.5lb rifle setup with suppressor and 3 rounds in mag - You can watch the vapor trail and spot your impacts in the scope. Man, I just wanna use this rifle for everything this year...

    Cow elk rifle

I think we hammered about 4 NM cow elk last year with 77gr TMK's. I'd take that over any copper bullets. 143ELDX, 140/147 ELDM's do fantastic on everything from Oryx to bull elk at creedmoor speeds. If you want to minimize tracking I'd pack the 6.5 PRC with factory ELDX or ELDM rounds for more...

New Mexico Outfitter Draw Set-Aside is Toast -Finally !

Yes. I think that some guys who used to play the game with X odds are not willing to play the game at X/4 odds or whatever they turn out to be. We're all just guessing here, but I'm banking on lots of shitty outfitters going away and freeing up some of those LO tags to the open market. All in...

New Mexico Outfitter Draw Set-Aside is Toast -Finally !

Maybe? We'll see. I just think that try-hard NR's that are willing to pay a few grand for a bump in odds and now can't do that will pile money in other states with better NR draw odds. Some will stick around for sure. Or they just buy a LO tag.

New Mexico Outfitter Draw Set-Aside is Toast -Finally !

That math has some faulty assumptions. First, key word is DIY. DIY NR's will have more tags, period. Guided NR's will battle for less total NR, true. Also, the assumption that total NR applications will be the same is faulty IMO. Many people apply for the outfitter tags with cheap "barely legal"...

    7 PRC and Magnum Powder

I think you're wasting limited powder chasing mythical "nodes". You should watch some of the Hornady podcasts where they talk about what actually matters for load development. Essentially, a guy that has collected data on tens of thousands of rounds with professional lab-grade equipment doesn't...

    Your preference with trigger lbs?

Aftermarket trigger springs in tikkas are notorious for causing unintended discharges. Just taking the rifle off safety can cause it to fire. Back the adjustment screw out until it bottoms out and run it.

Ladder Test for finding powder charge

I do as well. My point was referencing 3-shot "accuracy nodes". However, 3-shot groups can also hide issues. I've had rifles that print sub-half-MOA groups, but send at least one or two flyers out of ten.

    Safe Cleanout

Right, but the key here is using friends and family for both. No buyer protection, but perfectly legit methods of electronic funds transfer. I've had a guy pay me with USPS money order - a little slower but works also. If you want firearms-related buyer and seller protection, I think the only...
