See if the local school outdoors teacher has any interest in them. I know that our high school teacher who teaches outdoors, wildlife, conservation management, etc is always after mounts for the kids to see and learn from.
It hurt my brain to read that nonsense (How Colorado Decides Wildlife Policy....). I get what he was trying to do, but he was obviously so clueless about wildlife that he had to cover that up with snarky prose.
Went for a walk on public land this morning with my 2 labs. Lots of roosters around sounding off. Young lab goes on point in some brush.....and a 747 takes flight through the trees. Yep, a turkey, not a pheasant. It sure made a lot of noise. Last Saturday we called this guy in to 19 yards.
One story, one tip.
Story: We had an older gentlemen that wanted to help teach. I talked to him for 5 minutes and started to get that feeling. But he was a buddy of another teacher and went through the training to get certified. First time he gets to talk, he says, "When I was a kid, we used...
Taught for 25 years. Then just got too busy and my volunteer hours went to other things. Maybe when I retire I will start again. You see a lot in 25 years.
Shot mine today with TSS. Like you turned out the light in him. Pretty sure he never even heard the shot. Didn’t even flop. I love it. Nothing says you have to shoot them far. Let them in close if you want. Only downside is $.
I know someone who started from scratch, did all of his own scouting, research and burned through lots and lots of boot leather to find a really good spot. that would be a great spot to share with you.
I feel like I just pulled a Community Chest Monopoly Card. You have won 2nd place in a beauty contest! But 2nd place puts a smile on my face! Well done Bulldog!
Sitting in 5th. If MI wins I think move up to 2nd? How many points for the final game? 32? Then I would get second. Pretty sure it was all skill in my part. Or maybe not come to think of it.
I have been hunting the same property since 1982 and I can tell you that the number of big bucks has been relatively the same in our area the whole time. Maybe a down year here or there, but also years where we harvest multiple 150" deer. We now hunt 3 places and all had mature bucks on them...
Attended our local meeting. Very well thought out points in favor of rifles. The DNR has multiple levels to pull to manage populations. I see it as a great deal and look forward to toting a 7-08 out to the stand!
