Drew muzzleloader deer for a unit I like to spend time in (the hunting isn’t very good, I just enjoy the area); kept the streak alive at 13 years with no luck on elk. All red for the rest of my immediate family, oh well, maybe next year for them. Looking forward to spending some time in NM...- D_Walt

Future hunting trips
Depending on how NM & CO draws go this year I’m hoping: 2027 - WY elk 2028 - AZ elk 2029 - WY deer Sometime after 2030 - Alaskan Moose Sometime after that - Africa Then spend the next 15 years after that trying to use up all these points that I’m accumulating.- D_Walt

You yankees and your snow…I was in Big Bend NP last week and it was 111 in Boquillas Canyon on Thursday afternoon, Rio Grande was bath water warm. Don’t know if that’s better than snow or not…- D_Walt

Car Insurance - (For 16 year-olds)
I feel your pain, my wife and I have two teenagers on our car insurance, 4 vehicles; the kids and their cars add around $7k/year I believe. Just wait until she goes to college, that’s where the real pain starts!- D_Walt

Drought for the west
Heading to Big Bend National Park next week, had hoped to be out there before it got hot but looks like it will be in the 90’s. “Exceptional” D4 drought in the Big Bend country and in deep South Texas. Way down south my wildlife water stations are going through almost 2000 gallons a week...- D_Walt

Twelfth year applying for an elk tag, hopefully this is my year! Feeling pretty good about deer tags in some “undesirable” units with muzzleloader tags, I have drawn a few of them and had a great time, even if it is mediocre hunting.- D_Walt

I’ve got a few trigger techs and a couple Timneys, and aftermarket springs in some Tikkas. I prefer hunting triggers to be around 1 1/2 - 2 lbs.- D_Walt
