    UTAH PRICE INCREASE

If I lived in Colorado I'd probably just enjoy hunting in state.

    UTAH PRICE INCREASE

There are some gorgeous deer hunt zones you can draw with zero or one point if you are ok with using an iron-sight muzzle-loader. I got one point and I think I will draw the Zion Deer Unit muzzy hunt. Not a unit for a serious trophy hunter, but one of the most geologically scenic places in the...

Blacktail Deer hunters in Northern California

What I've seen some guides offer is a deal where they guarantee a shot opportunity, and if you do not get a shot opportunity doing your guided hunt, you can come back for a second guided hunt in the future at no additional charge. Obviously it is a bad deal for a guide unless they can be...

Blacktail Deer hunters in Northern California

It was $8,500 for the deer/bear combo due to getting a discount by picking it up when someone else had a last minute cancellation. $1,000 extra for the pig, so $9,500 total price before tip. Included a fully guided one on one multi-day hunt with guaranteed shot opportunities, staying in a nice...

    2026 Sheds

Found these three nice sized sun bleached desert mule deer sheds while exploring a remote area of Mt. Charleston only about an hour drive from the Las Vegas strip, plus about 4 hours of trekking on foot.

Blacktail Deer hunters in Northern California

Lockwood Hunting Services, the name of the guide I hunted with was Charles. Highly recommend. I got a deal on a bear/deer combo hunt due to a last minute cancellation. I also added on a wild pig for a bit extra, so I got to harvest 3 big game animals in 4 days, was absolutely fantastic!

    UTAH PRICE INCREASE

I live in Vegas and there are some good fishing and small game hunting spots in Southern Utah that are a shorter drive from my house than the good spots in northern NV, and since I bought the UT combo fishing and hunting license anyways, might as well put in for some of the big game tags. If...

Idaho Fish and Game commissioner charged with poaching bull elk

WTF? If poaching a bull elk isn't a felony, what stops people who don't draw a tag from just going out shooting a nice big elk wherever and whenever they feel like? It costs thousands of dollars to hunt an elk on prime private land, if poaching one while trespassing is just a misdemeanor and a...

Hunting Mountain Quail and "Sky Island" Mule Deer in the Mojave Desert

Thank you! That was the most interesting story about hunting mountain quail I have ver read.

Still Hunting Mule Deer in the Mountain West?

I'm thinking this summer once I find out what tag(s) I draw, I'll do a combination scouting and practice still hunting (minus the rifle) trip!

Blacktail Deer hunters in Northern California

Got my first blacktail last August with the help of a guide in northern A zone.

Still Hunting Mule Deer in the Mountain West?

That sounds great, less boring than sitting in the same area all day, but also less taxing than moving through brush all day long, kind of a hybrid mix between the two styles, I like it.

Still Hunting Mule Deer in the Mountain West?

Oh, and avoiding sky-lining oneself when going over or along ridges, anything else?

Still Hunting Mule Deer in the Mountain West?

Do any of you still hunt for mule deer in the Western Mountains? Like Nevada, Utah, etc.? From what I gather, it seems mule deer hunting in real life in places like Nevada and Utah seems to involve most hunters spending most of their time on or near roads, glassing, glassing, glassing...

Hi everyone. Signing in from Utah.

I didn't even realize until now there were different types of points in Utah unlike NV, so complicated! I just logged into my Utah account and even the Utah government website does not specify whether it is a "bonus point" or a "preference point"; however, the deer point is definitely for...

Hi everyone. Signing in from Utah.

Thank you. It looks like the Muzzy Boulder/Kaporowitz is a good bet, they had 74 leftover tags there in 2025 (probably just resident tags though), though maybe that unit isn't good? https://wildlife.utah.gov/remaining-permits-2025.pdf I know the Zion unit is full of deer.

Hi everyone. Signing in from Utah.

Thank you so much offering some advice. I have one point in Utah and I'm eager to go ahead and hopefully use it to hunt this year. I don't care about a trophy, I just want a good chance of harvesting a meat buck, and preferably in a unit that has not had any CWD.

Hi everyone. Signing in from Utah.

Wow, thank you! I just subscribed to GoHunt and was wondering why it showed 100% draw odds for me only for the muzzle-loader hunt for this unit, with the odds so much lower for basically every other deer hunt in the area. I'm guessing the GoHunt odds predictions aren't always accurate...

Hi everyone. Signing in from Utah.

Hello and welcome! I live in Nevada but hunt Southern Utah sometimes. I have a whole whopping one point for deer as a non-resident in Utah, and am thinking of using it this year to go for a primitive muzzle-loader deer tag in the Zion or Boulder/Kaiporowitz units. If you have any info...

A Kinda Fun Deer Tag Dilemma

The majority consensus so far from everyone I asked in person or online has definitely been to do NV this year and save the points for the other states. I actually just watched some YouTube videos of guys harvesting bucks in the Rubies a little while ago, and now I'm def getting excited for it...
