I use to do ladders and once I’d find a “node” I’d load up ten and sometime find that load still wasn’t accurate. Wasted a lot of time and components. Now days I work up to pressure and then back off slightly. Load 3 up. If those 3 show promise I load 7 more and shoot the same target...
I’ve never had the target knobs so not sure on that. The M1 use to have reference marks under the turret so you could go multiple revolutions and still be able to get back to your zero.
Both in the vx3 only have that on one rotation of turret. They have more overall travel than that but the turret is only marked for a single rotation. Have to go up to the vx5 to get more moa per rotation
My one gripe about it is you can’t load more than one profile at a time for use without service when hunting with the wife and kids. Not that it’s been an issue yet but maybe sometime
Definitely wouldn’t be dropping $10k on a guided elk hunt in Montana just to shoot a raghorn. If I were a non resident Montana would be pretty low on the list for a general elk hunt.
I do things different than most. I start 2 grains below max. Say book max says 60 grains. I load one at 58,59,60,61. If 61 doesn’t show pressure I’ll load one at 62. Then once I find pressure I back off a grain and load 3. If those 3 show potential I load 10 and see what it will do. I...
I pay zero attention to book COAL. Kiss the lands and back off a tad or load to fit mag. Work up to pressure signs. Book data is just guidelines not rules
