To make it worse, we don't even have the capacity to smelt it either, it will get shipped out of the country. Last I heard, the concentrated ore coming out of butte goes to China for smelting, I don't know that as fact though.
Russ is a good guy, i went to college and played football with him before he left Tech to join the Navy. He's not taking any pac money, which I respect a lot.
Kowa if you can. If you're set on leupold, get the 5 if you are trying to get all the magnification you can for antelope.
I like angled scopes, mostly for rotating the body when glassing from the truck. It's a lot easier on the neck.
The biggest problem with this project is the acid mine drainage and the biggest reason it should not be allowed. The acid mine drainage cannot be prevented. Dewatering of the mine and the water permiating the burden piles will all have to be treated forever. Forever, long after the mine is...
That's what I'm leaning towards is a light-ish gun I can pack around and do hunting scenario shooting in the field along with varmints. I'm thinking a krg bravo for weight and cost along with a light varmint barrel around 22". I should just do a 223 or 223 AI in an 8" twist since I already...
If Howa made left handed guns I would probably do the mini. My options for a lefty are extremely limited. Basically savage, remington, tikka, and custom actions. I currently have a savage model 12 in right hand that this gun will replace. I've switched all my other guns to left hand and I am...
I also love tikkas. My main hunting rifle is a lightly customized tikka. I wish tikka still had a varmint 223 in left hand...
I might cheap out, a guy local to me has a savage action sitting in a decent chassis for a decent price. NSS has some good deals on 6mm ARC barrels. I could build a...
Your issues seem way too common, the reason for my concern. Since they don't make the stiller action, it would just be a matter of boxing it up and shipping. Still gives me some concern given their less than stellar reputation.
Thanks for the comparison, I was hoping someone on here would have experience with both. I really prefer the features of the Origin over the stiller for sure.
The stiller was only in the mix because of the price, finding a left hand donor rifle is going to run the same price as the stiller...
Hey guys, have a question for the group. Pacific Tool and Gauge has left hand Stiller actions on sale for 599. I've heard enough horror stories about PTG to be wary, but those were all on the Rem 700 rifles they bought and tooling they make. Im curious if experiences are better for actions...
As others have mentioned, Tikka would be my recommendation.
Im a fellow lefty, my primary hunting rifle is a tikka 7mm mag. I considered all the lefty rifles under 1600 when I bought mine about 10 years ago. Not a lot out there in stainless synthetic, at that time anyway. Tikka has tons of...
Tikka hands down, we'll worth the extra cost. Never shot an American, only handled them. Been shooting a tikka for 10 years, my favorite rifle in the arsenal.
Consider a trijicon credo or accupoint instead of that vortex, the trijicon will be much more reliable in the long run.
I have the same rifle in 7 mag and I put a 9/16 thread micro bastard brake on mine. I didn't want to deal with the tax stamp, weight, or bulk of a can when I did mine.
Hey guys, it's official, we're on for the 28th of June! I have 2 work jobs with details below.
Fence pull southeast of Helena - We will be removing an old fence for a small ranch that has been a BMA for almost 30 years.
Fence mending near Townsend - This will be a smaller crew and the...
Hey guys, for those of you in the Helena area, I am hosting a pint night for Hunters for Access on Saturday, May 31st at Speakeasy 41 Brewing from 5-8 PM. We got some really great donations for raffle prizes, I've got about 2k worth of nice gear sitting in my living room right now to give away...
Hey everyone, just to give a quick update, I'm trying to lock in June 28th for the work day, but it's not set in stone yet, still playing phone tag trying to get it organized with landowners, but I think we will try to make it happen on that date. The rest of June has all kinds of local events...
Hey guys, I wanted to let everyone know I'm currently lining up a few work projects on a couple Block Management ranches in the Helena area. Currently, I'm looking at mid May to mid June to knock these out. I'll post hard dates once I've lined things up with the landowners. If you're...
