Looking for a cheap wall tent

Anybody have a smaller old wall tent gathering dust that they'd like to part with? Don't need anything very big, I usually hunt alone. I don't mind having to build a frame, fix some small holes, etc. I only have around $200 to spend. If anyone has something laying around they'd be willing to...

Help out Public Lands in Montana!

Answered the survey. Well thought-out questions, thanks for doing this. I look forward to seeing the results. It did seem like the section on hyalite WSA, specifically question 6, could have included a different answer choice for those of us who have never been there. Having to choose a...

    Anyone Use a Savage 99?

Just looked up the serial number, it’s a 1945. It was bought new by my great-grandfather, kinda skipped my grandmother, and was passed down to my uncle. I inherited it when he passed away last year.

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

I think I’m getting the hang of it now, still just using the seat / crimp combo die but doing it in 2 steps. Was also careful to trim all the brass to the exact length. Just did another 25 rounds and they all chamber just fine. Thanks for the help everybody!

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

Thank you. I’ll keep playing with trying to get the right seating depth and crimp with this die for now but I will definitely consider ordering one of the carbide factory crimp dies you mentioned.

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

Does this look like a better crimp, or is this now not enough?

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

That’s a good point. I had not trimmed the length on them. I will do that next time.

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

Yes, full-length resized all the cases. All were loaded with the same bullets. Only a few wouldn’t chamber even though everything was done exactly the same with each round, to the best of my limited knowledge.

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

3 die set. I’ll try for less of a crimp next time I guess.

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

Thanks for the reply, you’re right I did seat and crimp at the same time, guess I didn’t realize that wasn’t proper. I just have a seat/crimp die, no separate crimp die. Do I just back the crimp part of the die all the way out, seat all the rounds, then adjust it back down and crimp them? I’ll...

44 Mag, some rounds won’t chamber

This is my first time loading a pistol cartridge, always just rifle in the past. I loaded up 24 rounds of 44 magnum. 240gr bullet, 21 - 24gr of H110 (6 rnds each in 1gr increments) Out of the 24 rounds there were a few that won’t chamber all the way. They’ll only slide about half way into the...

    Lake trout tips

They can be even shallower depending on what they’re feeding on. On flathead lake here in MT it’s common to catch big lakers in only 4 or 5 feet in the wintertime where they’re chasing perch. Sounds crazy but sausage links are the best bait I’ve found.

Leupold scopes love or hate em?

I’ve had the same leupold vari-x III on my 30-06 all my life, was on the rifle when I inherited it from my grandfather 20 years ago. A few years ago it stopped holding zero, hadn’t been dropped or anything that I was aware of. But I will say the customer service was great. I had no receipt...

Anything specific you want to make? I have a friend in Michigan who does it as a business and his stuff is really good, I know he’d share some recipes if I knew what to ask for.

    Homemade pistol grips

Nothing too complicated, I just cut out the general shape with a jigsaw and did all the rest of the shaping with a dremel.
