Keys to an all day sit

I haven't ever seen a big buck in the middle of the day on my pre-rut and rut all day sits in 40+ years of hunting. I hunt public land, don't know if that has anything to do with it. I still do a few all day sits, but I usually see basically zero deer movement between 10 am and 3 pm when I do. I...

    Bad shot - good ending

Congratulations from a fellow Missouri guy on a very cool buck! You absolutely did the right thing by backing out over night. Very fortunate that coyotes didn't get him.

    Elk of a lifetime

Congratulations to everyone on their personal best bulls!

    Elk of a lifetime

I’ve had two mid tier LE tags in two different states and killed 310” and 320” bulls, my best bulls.

    Deer Squirts

Seen it before, one time while I was duck hunting in 20 degree temps and blowing sleet. It's not fun to peel out of your waders, sweat pants, and long underwear to check on what you already know is there.

    Utah Desert BH sheep

That is awesome! I'm sitting on 23 Utah DBH points. Maybe if I can hang in there another 50-60 years I'll get lucky and pull a tag.

    2025 Montana Bull

You paid your dues. It seems fitting that you got your first bull in a spot that allowed your dad to enjoy the experience with you without a miserable pack out. Congratulations to you both!

    Whitetail Buck of a Lifetime

Missouri and Montana. I’ve killed a decent number of 100-120” bucks over the years in addition to these two good bucks. I hunt mainly public and the big boys are rarely seen.

    Feeling Like a White-tailed Year.

Some nice whitetail bucks! It's awesome that you have the option of either whitetail or mule deer. I've been hunting whitetails in Missouri for 40 years and yet I killed one of my best whitetails ever (144") on day 7 of what was supposed to be a mule deer hunt in Montana.

Another rifle I want but don't need. The .264 Win Mag.

If you have the financial means, just buy it. It's a very cool cartridge and critters won't like it. I'm waiting on a .264 WM build myself.😁

    Adventures with the 257PRC

Nice rifle! I just recently changed the rifling twist on a new build to stay below 300,000 RPM with jacketed bullets at the velocity the cartridge is capable of.

    Big Bullets for Big Animals?

Another vote for the 8mm Rem Mag. I shoot the 200 gr Partition. I've taken a 310" and 320" bull elk with it, plus 3 bears and a bunch of whitetail deer. It shoots itty bitty groups and kills with authority. Other cartridges need not apply.

My 2024 limited entry Utah rifle elk hunt

Great story! You put in an amazing amount of effort on that hunt. While it isn't a 400" bull like the ones you see with a half dozen people surrounding it and a guiding service logo in the bottom of the picture, it is far more of a trophy the way I see it. Well done!

    1870’s Sharps On Mule Deer

Love it! I don't have any truly old rifles like you do, but I'm planning on trying to fill a doe tag this year with a 1949 Marlin 336 .32 Special with a peep sight.

    Third rifle season Co

Congratulations on your bull! Sorry to hear about the shoulder. Hope you can get it fixed up. Next time on an outfitted hunt, let the young pups do the heavy lifting! As far as the altitude sickness, next time talk to your doctor about some Diamox to start taking before you leave. It can...

Good for you and your pops! Great memory made.

The fun is just starting when you pull the trigger- a sheep story

That is awesome! 99% (maybe more than that) of hunters are not capable of doing what you did, myself included. Simply amazing. Well done and richly deserved!

    first elk hunt success

Great bull! Congratulations! Shame about the broken G3. Are you doing a shoulder mount or a skull mount?
