Played baseball a bit when I was young. Wrestled for a couple years at age 10-11. Played High School basketball my Freshman year. Started boxing when I was 12 at 85 pounds and fought for 12 years. Last year I boxed I was 27 years old and fought as a 178 pounder (light heavy weight). I...
I've heard that the #1's can be finicky but I have two 1B's and they both shoot great. I shot this 3 shot group today at the range. I've been out about every 2-3 weeks with my 1B in 30-06 shooting a few rounds just to stay sharp. I drew a Gardiner Montana bison tag, 1 of 40, and I'm sure...
As has been noted the 25-06 is an exceptional antelope and deer cartridge and with an excellent Nosler 110 gr. Accubond, 100 gr. E-tip, or 120 gr. Partition would also serve well on elk. That being said I feel that the 6mm Remington is fantastic and I have in my lifetime probably taken over 40...
6mm Remington one shot 30 yards with 100 gr. Partition. Entered right shoulder and exited just in front of the left shoulder on the other side. Staggered a few feet and I shot him one more time and he went down. He was dead on his feet but didn't know it.
6mm Remington one shot at 350 yards...
I'd say a good 6mm with excellent bullets. Some that come to mind are:
6mm Remington
6mm PRC
240 Weatherby
243 WSSM
243 Winchester
Bullets:
100 gr. Partition
95 gr. Partition
90 gr. E-tip
90 gr. Accubond
This is pretty cool and sad some of the things and experiences we have been through, loved, hated, and survived.
1. I had 178 amateur fights over a 12 year span and got to share the ring with 3 Olympians, Carmen Rinke (Canada 1976), Johnny Bumphus (United States 1980), and Virgil Hill (United...
Nosler 150 gr. E-tip will be a great bullet in your 30-06. H4350 or IMR4350 will both work great and will expand nicely on game, and penetrate like a champion.
I'm doing a pork shoulder roast today. About a 10 pounder. I have it on my Pit Boss pellet smoker. I really like it and I use it frequently. One of the best things on it ever has been when I loaded all 7 wracks with deer meat and made jerky on it. Oh my! I can't wait to dig into the pork...
For me personally it would be the 30-06. I also have a 280AI and I would choose that over the 270 also. Now between the 30-06 and the 280AI I would simply have to have both! They both are fantastic, but then again there is nothing wrong with the 270 Winchester.
I found a Winchester Model 70 classic sporter with a nice walnut stock for sale that appeared to have not been fired much at all. It was chambered in 270 Winchester. I had my gunsmith do his work on the action and trigger, and he put on a 24" Shilen match barrel 1-9" in 280AI. It was pillar...
Congratulations and well deserved! My friend and I call that Cashing In A Coupon. You need several hard hunts to earn a coupon and it would appear you earned it and then some.
I have shot a LOT of pronghorn antelope and mule deer with a 6mm Remington. It is deadly on them and I have also taken one elk with my 6mm Remington. It's a great cartridge for deer, antelope sized game. Go forth using good bullets and it will work great.
I have complete confidence in...
