One does not intentionally "rub off a safety", but if you fasten your rifle to your backpack, the jostling and rubbing against the pack can "rub off" safety. I also have hunted that long and have had the safety rub off on my pack. That is another reason not to carry a round in the chamber.- Straight Arrow
