Dave your a beast! I'll be starting my scouting I think the Aug 3rd weekend, and then I plan on doing 3 scouts in Aug, and 2 in Sept. I've gotten a lot of great information off these posts and I keep watching Goat videos, some may call me obsessed, but I just can't stop thinking about it! Look forward to comparing notes in Sept!

If you get up to Leigh Lake make sure you check out Blackwell Glacier at the head of the canyon. Usually there are goats around that area as well. My wife had to chuckle at your comment on me being 63. My age isn't my only concern since I have had 3 heart attacks beginning at the age of 44. All together I have had 4 by-passes, 7 stents and 2 angiopastys. I retired at the age of 49 in 1999 and moved to Montana in 2007. Its funny that since I retired I have had zero heart problems. I guess work is not what it is cut out to be. I do 90% of my hunting by myself and if I don't go on a hike at least 3 times a week I get antsy. I don't worry about the grizzlies. I have only seen 3 in all the miles I have put on and when I do see one I feel blessed. In the past 2 years I have packed out 2 elk and 2 deer by myself. I do hope to have one of my sons with me on my goat quest because of the winter conditions I might face. Good luck scouting and I will compare notes with you come September.
