Depends on game and distance for me. With the 120gr out of my rifle combo I am seeing close to 3,100 fps with excellent performance on deer and down sized game. For Elk, I have found the 140 gr class bullet to be a good performer with velocities in the 2,800-2,900 fps range.
This would be...
I have a woman's size small top for anyone who wants it. Just cover the shipping. Got this for my daughter and it runs a little small. Like new condition, I think she wore it once or twice.
Thank you,
Rem 700 In 300 RUM.
Nothing special, it just gets the job done, it always just shows up and works. Has plenty of power and not for everyone.
I that aligns with a 1 ton diesel, 4WD, manual transmission, 4 door, long bed.
I second the recommendation from Armageddon gear:

I have a couple of both for myself and others when they come shoot. Pricy, but they do hold...
For the 7mm-08 I have found that stepping down to the 120gr class is a good choice given your requirements. The factory options are excellent these days and you may have to see what you rifle likes best. Personally I hand load and have found the offerings with the Hammer bullets or the Barnes...
We have a Browning X-Bolt in 7mm-08, with an 18" barrel will push 120gr class bullets at around 3,000fps. This is in my opinion a nice compact setup especially when sitting in a tree stand or hunting out of a blind. It also shoots the 140 class bullets closer to +2,700 with Lapua brass and Varget.
In my personal experience, yes there is a difference. I have seen a change in standard deviation and extreme spread when using various primers given the same powder change and bullet. This has resulted in changes in group side on target as well.
If you are talking about 100 yards and in...
I have used something like this:
amazon rechargeable fan
They don't make the one I have but you can find something similar and all I did was put a small piece of flexible hose on the end and stick it in the chamber and away you go.
Something for you to consider would be the MDT field stock. Here is an example of one of mine, and this fits within your budget of $500 or less.

I have a Houge rubberized stock for a right-hand Rem 700 short action that I am no longer in need of and I would like to get $75 for it.

We currently have one of the 1st generation Ravin crossbows. As much as I wanted to hate them, I am now a big fan. The pros are it works great for every sized individual, and every skill level. The weight is comparable to that of a rifle, and it points and shoots like a rifle so there isn't...
Take a look at the Weatherby SA-08 in 20 gauge. I know you mentioned a preference for a pump and this is not. I got one for the kids and it has worked great from turkey to pheasants. I see that SA series are not in current production and you may need to look at used if interested. The...
I have a 16" barrel in a Remington, the action really isn't important, but it is representative of what you are using. With a 175gr Sierra match king I am getting 2,400 FPS. That load is just for target-based shooting. For hunting I use a 150gr and keep the shots to a much closer range due to...
