I’d second this tip, they come through this area pretty frequently and can catch them bedded just south of the fence that borders two dot and forest service on this end. Watch out for grizzly, they are now joke in this area and with proper precautions they shouldn’t bother you.
Congrats on retiring! I would say paying the extra for the special draw can give you more opportunity of drawing a type 1 tag. I believe area 7 (I didn't check draw odds this year) as of last year was a good chance at drawing with no points in the special.
It really depends, in my unit some of the public land is land locked, but has a county or public road through the private. I usually hit up On x and get a paper map as on some of the paper maps they highlight which roads are public versus private. When I have any doubts I usually contact the...
I would recommend chains or a set of those MASKAs would be good to have. If you get a road that has any bentonite in it no set of tires alone will get you through that slime. Most dirt roads are ok when dry, but any rain and they can be very tricky to navigate.
So I may have missed it but I didn’t see any velocities posted for these rounds. Again either round is solid, esp if you’ve shot them and your rifle likes them. The big question is what distance are you shooting for and comfortable with as that can change what I shoot. I like nosler as they are...
I have a pair of kenetrexs that I love for cold weather but my new favorite is La Sportiva Karakoram. Love how they do in the summer and also warm in the winter.
Depends if you have a side arm, I usually go back to my survival school days and carry extra just in case I need to signal distress. For rifle I usually bring a box of ammo so 20 rounds. If I have a side arm then I only bring two clips of ammo so pending rifle 6-8 rounds.
Really depends what your rifle likes shooting. My rifle likes heavier bullets so i shoot 168 Berger. If like you said accuracy is the same 140 would be plenty for elk, but I do love nosler bullets.
I ended up drawing a Type 1 Area 48 antelope tag this year as a resident. I wondered if anyone had any insights on the area or where to focus scouting? I used the search tool and found limited info (but they may be due to user error ha!). I also have the disabled veteran hunter season extension...
This is why I stick with Leupold, they have the best customer service and their glass the past 5 years has definitely gotten better. Love their scopes more then the two ziess scopes that I have
