    Upper Breaks are a mess

Last year this guy thought he could drive this through the gumbo. Sat there for six days until he got pulled out. Not a call I would want to make to my wife.

    Muskrats - It's what's for dinner

It is a piece of smoked fish that is sold in a wrapper like a beef stick. I don't know why they were called Blind Robins. After a couple of beers with eggs, smoked fish and muskrat or even a limburger and onion sandwich you were ready to go home to mama!

It's a piece of smoked fish that comes in a wrapper like a piece of beef jerky. I don't know why they were called that. After having a couple of beers and eating eggs, smoked fish and muskrat or even a limburger and onion sandwich you were ready to go home to mama!

    Muskrats - It's what's for dinner

Back in Wisconsin along the Mississippi river a lot of the bait shops and bars would have smoked muskrat. Right along side the pickled eggs and blind robins!

    When is 'old' too old?

I will be 67 in just a couple of months. I live and hunt in the Cabinet Mountains. Most people from Montana know there is no easy way to get around in this area. I had a quad bypass when I was 45 and have seven stents put in place in the years since then. Two years ago I killed a Mountain Goat...

    2016 lion season

Yes that is a cool picture with the green eyes. The guy with the dogs wanted the dogs to chase that cat some more so he told me to go pound on the tree so the cat would come down . After pounding for awhile I looked up and the cat was starting to come down. I grabbed my camera and took the...

    Deer - lets see em

My sons 2016 Wisconsin deer. He spent over 200 hours bow hunting for this buck and killed him the second day of rifle season with a gun. He said it almost felt like cheating but couldn't pass him up.

37+ bighorn sheep have died in a pneumonia outbreak at Montana's National Bison Range

The wife and I were at the Bison range in early October. It was sad to see these rams so weak they couldn't stand up without shaking. These two were in the same exact spot when we drove by them four times over two days. I stopped at the visitor center and asked what was wrong with the sheep and...

    Baiting Bear Help

In Wisconsin I would use dog food and pour cow molasses on it and also would spray liquid smoke on the trees nearby. After a bear would hit this bait for a few days you could follow his scat for 50 yards!

    WWII Roe deer???

That had to shot in England since we didn't get to France until 1944. My dad who fought in the Battle of the Bulge said they killed lots of deer and loved to eat venison instead of C-rats. Since my dad was from Wisconsin and had hunted deer all his life he and his buddy would go on meat hunts...

    Bear Baiting a Different Way

When I lived in Wisconsin I would do something similar. I would use dry dog food and cover it with molasis. I could buy it at the feed stores that supplied the dairy farmers. Often times I would burn honey when I sat on the bait or spray liquid smoke on the tree trunk at the bait site.
