    Spotting scope vs bino's

I agree that even a compact 25-40 power spotter is a key in open land hunting. Even with only a 3-9 for taking shots and 10x binos for scanning, it's priceless to be able to look into pockets or clusters of vegetation with a spotter. I picked up a pretty decent one for around 250 on sale I...

    Range finding reticles

We're not allowed scopes on smokepoles in WA so I'm not sure about those, but a good BDC reticle seems useful a few of my friends have them and like them alot. I still have the standard duplex in mine other than a turrets on my 22-250 and don't have much trouble with holdover. I think it just...

    vanes

I guy at the archery shop where I shoot actually set up a microphone system because of animals reactions to his arrows. His primitive tests showed that their was a significant drop in noise when he switched to the smaller vanes and at 40 yards a split second movement by an animal can mean the...

    Soaked in Milk?

I've done this with duck, put a bunch of breasts in a bowl and fill it up with milk, usually ate it the next day. I don't mind duck, but some people that don't like how gamey it is really liked it after the milk soak. I'd say try it and see what you think...oh and I have no idea if I have the...

I went with the Remington 700 VLS

Nice pick, then again I'm a big Remington fan, my go to rifle is a 700 RMEF in 7RUM with a 4-10 x 44 zeiss conquest and it's a great setup, I have a couple Leupold VX-III's, a nikon monarch, and the zeiss conquest and they are all great scopes, tough and water-tight, I've never had good luck...

    every bow hunter should

Only time I've come close to that was sitting in a wooded creek bottom in central Montana during a windstorm. Something sent about 20 deer all running right passed the tree I was sitting in. I agree by the time I stopped looking at what was happening confused I remembered I was hunting :D

Mountain Goats- The Hunt of a Lifetime

That story was great, really made me think more seriously about trying harder to draw a goat hunt. And I'd bet that even with your optimism you never would have guessed that your taxidermist couldn't pulled all that off. Congrats on the goat, and great job selecting a taxi.
