    How many miles?

The elk can be anywhere on the mountain. Never the same spot. We usually will leave a truck on both sides and hike to which ever is closest. Kind of a weird spot, there is a road on both sides of the very small mountain range.

    How many miles?

I average in the teens most days. To be fair we parallel a road usually. No more than a few miles off the road. It might be a long walk back to the truck when something is down but then we can drive much closer. Can't remember a time in recent history were we haven't shot one opening weekend.

    Who’s Fault question

I put in a glass garage door. The wife ran into it also. Said she looked in the rearview mirror and she could see outside. Of course she could. It's all glass!

    EOY ‘23 - What Worked, What Didn’t?

He ran a stone glacier while I ran my western mountaineeering 5 degree bag, both of us had no problems this year. I run really cold and my bag has more loft. I think they both are great bags. The western mountaineering is definitely more expensive but I don’t think you could go wrong either way.

Federal Premium 200gr Terminal Ascents 300WM - Can anyone give me a review?

My hunting partner shoots these out of a seekins ph2 300 win mag. First year with the rifle and it was a toss up between these and the eldx. They shot very similar but I have ran the federal ta in 7 mm for the last three years with great success. He got an antelope at 530 yards. Two shots...

I also have heard that some of the deer that winter in the bridgers come from the crazy mountains.

    Schnee's Beartooth Owners

I have ran a pair of uninsulated for the last two years. Below 20 they get cold fast. I have very cold feet and used battery operated socks to make it work around that temperature. Anything below that if I stop moving i freeze. Great boot in the mountains. Lots of top support with a stiffer...

    Bridger mule deer

Things I learned with this tag this year. - I wished I had hunted a couple very popular hiking area during bow season. We went in twice just see how many people were in the area and both held over 50 vehicles. I don’t like to hunt around lots of people and blew it off. We went in the last...

    Bridger mule deer

Well it’s tag soup for this guy. Went out bright and early Saturday and had limited visibility. The clouds were hanging out where I was sitting the first few hours.Luckily in the few areas I could see I found deer. I watched a couple bucks chasing around a couple of hot does. Again just your...

    EOY ‘23 - What Worked, What Didn’t?

I tried a lot of new things this year that worked great. - Swarovski ats. I saved for a year to afford this and it is just amazing. I could see things better in low light than my binos. - Western mountaineering antelope 5 degree sleeping bag. I am very cold blooded and never once got cold. It...

    Bridger mule deer

Sunday morning was a now show, spent most of the morning perched above our favorite glassing spot but everything moved out over the night. We moved further up the mountain, opening more hillsides, hoping to catch something out in the openings to no avail. Mid morning we meet a guy working his...

    Bridger mule deer

Friday dawned another windy and sleepless night. Great sunrise again though. We hunted some lower timbered country and found a couple deer but nothing spectacular. After no sleep for two days because of the horrible wind I decided to head home for the evening and sleep in a real bed. This morning...

    Bridger mule deer

What a night! Woke up at 11:39pm to the tipi going flying over our head, stovepipe and wall. A huge downward wind gust came up and ripped out all the stakes. We scampered around in our long John’s restaking and adding additional guy out points to secure everything. It was a long and restless...

    Bridger mule deer

We interrupt this deer hunt to bring you elk! We hiked into an area we hunted before that holds a lot of deer tracks but hard to hunt with the trees. On the way in we ran into a set of wolf tracks. And the wind, it’s been blowing 20 plus all day. We found a nice campsite 3 miles in on a nice...
