Looking for rangefinder for mountain rifle hunting

I was set on a Leica until I played around with one. The glass is great, but I’m a little red colorblind so the display was really hard for me to see. The vortex razor and sig 2200 were much easier to read, they seem to have more orange in the display with larger font. Sig has two new...

Help me spend my Kifaru gift card....

Congrats! I would go the Stryker XL route as the straight jacket seems like it would get really wide for mountain hunting. Not packs, but I would also look at the lost park parka if you do any late season hunts. Their doobie blanket is great for sitting in ground blinds waiting for geese too.

    Organization to be involved with

Thank you for the link, as a MT resident I honestly didn’t know the Mt chapter opposed I-177 because they were not listed on the coalition of organizations who opposed it. Maybe I am a damn(ed) liar, but I was referring to the national chapter and why they seem to refuse to use their clout to...

Schaaf, did BHA or the Montana chapter of BHA officially oppose I-177? Not trying to be argumentative because maybe I’ve been misled, but I know the BC chapter opposed the grizzly ban and I assume the CO chapter opposed wolf reintroduction and both had zero appearance of the full weight of BHA...

    Organization to be involved with

Did they? I honestly don’t remember BHA officially getting on that train. I really only remember a few like Stubblefield and Callahan calling it out just like every other common sense voice with a platform in the social media world. It seems like a curious position for BHA to officially take...

In the market for a range finder.

I’ll probably go Leica as well. I’ve been using the Nikon 550 for about 12 years and it’s been fine, but starting to get a finicky at dusk/dawn and in the cold. The new Maven is probably great, but I know that goofy dial on the side would drive me nuts.

I’m looking to upgrade too. Looked at a Leica at sportsman’s, but the worker bee didn’t know anything about them. For you Leica guys, can you adjust the display brightness and how weatherproof are they?
