thanks all for the information it has been very helpful. the ornery side of me says instead of every hunter going through sooo much searching the landowner could put up a $1.50 sign that says he owns it. like here in Idaho the landowner has to post his land every 200 feet. really easy to...- ridgeghost

Assumed I was hunting on Forest Service because I relied on Google maps and my Garmin GPS but found out the boundaries are wrong according to FWP. Still after showing him my GPS wrote me a citation.- ridgeghost

If your thinking of hunting in Montana do your homework! And even when you do you might have not done enough. When hunting in the Crazy Mountains there is alot of area that get you into trouble. So if your thinking of hunting there think again.- ridgeghost

He is very correct about that! The fines are stiff and even more to fight in a court of law.The easiest way to not break the law is to stay away from Montana to hunt. Attack on Access
Is there such a thing as public access in Montana? When hunting in Montana I used Google Earth and my Garman Rhino. Both said I was on public access Gallatin National Forest. According to Montana FWP were all wrong.Very frustrating. So what is there to fight for? Seems they already have it.- ridgeghost
