There are a lot of good points here, and it's good to hear from others that have seen elk spook at long distances. Test your truck battery and check its cables
Bumping this PSA back to the top for 2025. A mechanic warned me the battery was already failing so I replaced it again today, cleaned the cables, and replaced the positive terminal. I'm headed to mule deer country later this evening. Good luck to everyone!- Paul in Idaho
