It is more about the bullet and shot placement than it is about the caliber. I like barnes bullets for two holes. My son shot a moose this year with a 270 wby and a 129 barnes. Easy pass through.
I used to subscribe to the bigger bore revolvers and living in NW WY and hunting in grizzly country year after year that is what I carried but after seeing penetration tests and hearing results of the 10mm or 45 acp+p or super I am leaning the other way. I swapped springs in my 1911 and am now...
To me just picking out branch antlered bulls doesn't take much. The 10 power or over and nicer glass coming in when trying to determine if mule deer is worth going after or if finer details. Elk hunting doesn't warrant a spotter unless it is from the road and long ways away glassing or if you...
I would lean 243/6mm creed or bump up to the 6.5 creed. No flies on the 7-08 or 270 though either. Look at tikkas or for a budget the Ruger American predator rifles.
For bang for the buck I would pick a Ruger American predator in 223. It is twisted to shoot heavies and the rifles really shoot. Otherwise I would consider the tikka models for the same reason but they add a little more to the budget. 223 ammo is plentiful and lots of options from the factory.
Posted a WTB in the classifieds here for a daypack lid. Read on a MR thread that people here were watching other classifieds for some deals and wonder if you guys had some suggestions for places to look. I am a more active member of 24hourcampfire and check in here now and then. I look there...
Looking for a daypack lid or accessory pockets for my crewcab. I don't have a color preference as I won't be entering any modeling contest with it.
Thanks
